I must disagree on the following - He left Salford ,seemingly,because an opportunity arose to coach at his home town club,considered to be one of the biggest in the world,after undergoing the trauma that was Salford during his time here.
The wording by the Wigan club,on his departure,could be interpreted in different ways and they did commend his coaching ability.
He has undergone a particularly personal issue which affects many people from a diversity of backgrounds and life-experiences.

The suggestion that the backs,last time Sean Long was here,were superior to the ones we have now either suggests that you find the recruitment below-par or the coaching,at the moment,below-par - because after the return from South Africa they should have 'hit the ground running' and then it was going to be after they all gel.

Whatever it may be I welcome Sean Long back - back to what he enjoys doing - and expect the spine of the side to improve rapidly and to see some attacking structure in place.

Taking the lead role in the pre-match warm-up back from the conditioner where ball work is concerned,will also be a bonus,as will the kicking from hand.

It's a little early to be making judgements about the quality of the 2012 backs v 2014 backs IMO. Ignoring Longy's recent past, all I can say is when Longy was here our attacking play (from our backs) looked more organised, polished and threatening. I'm also sure that Sean must have had a big influence on the development of Matty Smith.

Perhaps he will see this as his very last chance in RL and repay the club for giving him an opportunity that many people don't think he deserves. Maybe the lad hit rock bottom a few weeks back and it will prove to be a turning point in his life? Who knows?

Amusing to see the clamour for an attacking coach, yet no mention of the defence having conceded 102 points in 4 games. Not sure how Long is going to improve this area.

New regime, same old blind faith mantra. Kim Jon-un would be proud.

I'm curious to know if the reports in the press quoting Noble are him toeing the party line or if he really did want to get SL back on board?

Suppose it remains to be seen if he can assist, think most of us would agree Smith hasn't been the player we hoped he would be, maybe Long can help integrate him into the systems we are looking to play. Can't see him being much use with Chase as think we all know Chase will be off the cuff rather tha structured set plays.

With Long, Gleeson, Hock, Smith, Chase all together for extended spells of time the bars/pubs/offies of the locale won't be going bump any time soon will they?!
