This is a terrible idea as already pointed out, the chance to pick injuries in a meaningless game is a concern, injuries such as to the neck and back will be a risk because RL players are not trained to ruck and maul as is the amount of time we'll waste practising some Rugby Union basics during important pre season training sessions.
Think this one needs rethink, I cringed when it was mentioned by Noble yesterday!!'"
Wigan took the cross code games with Bath seriously. They had a few ex RU converts, Quinnell was one I can remember who went off injured early in the game and they had training sessions with Orrell in the build up to the game. They was still beaten convincingly as Bath played a tight game and as you say unless we practiced in the rucks we will not get any possession aswell as the risk of injury. Practicing for 40 mins of rugby union in a meaningless game is hardly going to be a great use of resources so will be interesting to see if any team preparation would go into the game.
Predictable conclusion, we will smash them at league and they will bully us at union. There are potential PR benefits off the field if marketed properly but for the hardcore Salford and Sale fans we aint going to get any enthusiasm.
Koukash is quoted as saying league is the better game. Is he trying to use a cross code game to try and emphasise his point to the wider audience?
