I must admit to sharing similar feelings to this - Considering all the hype, your signings do reek of averageness.
Don't get me wrong, I admire the enthusiasm and ambition of your owner and the signings are a huge improvement on what you presently have, but for all the build up to today's announcement, the signings of Chase and co are a bit underwhelming.
For all his bluster, one could have been forgiven for thinking we were going to see Roby or Sinfield unveiled, not a couple of half backs from lower-end-of-the-table sides and a gang of veterans looking for one last payday.
I have to give him his due though, he definitely knows how to sell something.... The fact he has Salford fans so excited over these signings is ample proof of that, and if he does hang around for the long haul ,then there can be little doubt he will eventually be able to build a side that deserves the hype - However, for the moment, I don't think this collection of signings does that.'"
The signings announced today can do nothing but improve us greatly for next season. There was also mention of more to come and we are currently looking to the 2015 season and beyond. Also there is going to be big developments around the stadium ( hotels , casino etc) which will benefit the club to a prosperous future. The Docs foremost ambition is to make us a force to be reckoned with and any fan of ours knows this takes time. We have been promised improvement and that's what we are getting. I'm sure any team in super league would have more than welcomed any of the players we announced today , especially Chase , Tim Smith or Hock.
With a good pre season ( something we didn't have last time round) i am confident to start next season running and look forward to a great future.

| I don't think Salford were gonna be changed into 'world beaters' overnight.
2 (obvious) Top signings, Tim Smith is quality also, Meli Morley etc.
One step at a time, Salford won't finish 'next to bottom of SL' next season, that's for sure. Top coach in Brian Noble, top 8 finish ???

| Quote: Dita's Slot Meter "Hock was basically kicked out of Wigan, Chase and Smith have been bought from two clubs who are too skint to hold onto them, while Hodgson's departure will be because we don't need him anymore, rather than him being seduced by any other offer.
However, if we decide that Ratchford is our player then there is very little you can do about it - that's what a contract is.'"
Contracts go both ways though, so just because you don't need Hodgson, doesn't mean he has to go, why should he if he can't get an equal/better deal elsewhere? He's entered into that contract as much as Warrington so there is no reason why either party should not stick to the terms of it.
Contracts are only worth what somebody is prepared to pay to get the other party out of it, be it Salford (signing Ratchford) or Warrington (releasing Hodgson early)

I fully agree, though I think in RL, the players show a lot more loyalty to a contract than in football - At this point in time, I can't honestly see Ratchford being sold to Salford, however much money you were to offer. Its not like Wire need the cash and I don't think Ratchford would push for a move, however much he supposedly loves Salford.

| There's still a chance we could finish bottom so let's have a touch of realism, we're not gonna be signing superstars yet. What we have signed is a number of good solid players with SL experience. Also by signing players from teams in the lower half we have weakened them too. Should move us a few rungs up the ladder which has gotta be the first goal.

| Quote: middleman "Hock was contracted to Wigan until 2014
Its no secret he fell out with Wane. Wigan got rid of him.
Chase % Tim Smith was Contracted to 2015.
Both Cas & Wakefield are in financial trouble so needed the cash.
Brett Hodgson is contracted until 2014 but expected to move or retire ..
whats a contract ?'"
Hodgson has reportedly asked for an early release to play for a club closer to his home in Huddersfield.
As for Ratchford, he signed an extension to 2016. If he chose to return to Salford and handed in a transfer request then maybe Moran would consider it, but he definitely doesn't need the money.
