If you think about it the public statement yesterday by Cas about rejecting the offer is to simply see if it generates interest from elsewhere. Tell me another reason why they would do this? There isn't one.
It appears Cas have only one interested party but would ideally want another club or two in the mix to push up the price. Let's face it Cas are in no immediate rush so they will hold out for as long as they have to.
If we don't get him it's not the end of the world because I'd have thought for the kind of money we are talking (with a transfer fee) we could bring over a top quality half from the NRL. Big golden hello for the player and £250K a year on the salary cap. If I was the Doc I'd put a time limit on any offer for Chase, allowing us to move on to plan B. Who knows the club may be already doing that?
