I believe Vic Mauro is playing for the 20s this evening.

On the subject of the game, only 1 defeat from 5 for Widnes at home including putting 30+ on Hull and Wire. Also rested a few players for their easter Monday game at Hudds. Can see this being the game where the easter weekend catches up with us, although hope to be proved wrong.

Gaskill can't be dropped and Gleeson needs to be in.

Sneyd, Williams, Gleeson, Gaskill, Broughton, Fages, Foran. But as Williams is either injured or not getting picked Murphy seems much better on the wing than at full back. I personally think the fully fit back line looks like with the inclusion of Gaskill that it could do some damage especially as it seems we appear to have in Foran the makings of a #7 who can boss the game.

Like that we seem to have two hookers playing well and think the only thing really at the moment we don't seem to be able to select is a real ball playing loose forward.

If Gaskills better than Theo by Christ he's special, think Gaskills value lies in his versatility in the halves and backs along the same lines as were seeing with Sneyd since his move to full back.

The good news for us is you'd think we have another waiting in the wings in Evalds.

1 try all season, 1 try assist, 4 clean breaks all in 10 games, Gaskell has 2 tries an assist and 2 clean breaks after 2 games. I accept they have been playing different positions but looking at those stats from Fages for a stand off don't make good reading. Fages may well be a good prospect but all this bigging him up is doing the young lad no favours at all, let him develop, his stats may get worse if he burns out in his 1st season which could result in Gaskell moving to SO or indeed Sneyd.

Mauro played for the 20's tonight and worked hard, although needs to sort out his tackling technique too many penalties for same thing. Evalds played 7 and looked excellent very good kicking game, imo a better option than theo at present. let the young lad learn in the 20's. Also ford played centre, please put him in instead of okanga-ajwang that lad is nowhere near ready.

OK last night in the reserves he looked at times a little slow, but I'm sure
in a few weeks he will be ready for the first team.

When fit Mauro will be a very good addition. He was a work horse at Manly, won he NRL and played in the World Club Challenge vs Leeds. Decent background.

No doubt for me Evalds is a very special talent, played half a game at 7 then moved to full back. But to compare a run out for the 20's with Theo playing Super League is a bit of a flawed comparison. We should not be settling for one or the other, if they are both good enough put them both in the 1st team.
