| Sheens,Smith,McLennan
Either of those three would be a huge statement of intent.

| I'm surpised about the low voting for ' Bluey ' Brian McClennan , considering his reasonable stats and experience at both Club & international level , and the fact he's available and a New Zealander , must put in the favourites short-list .

| We were told the Australian currency and the Salary Cap would make the purchase of Antipodeans almost impossible.
If we go for an Antipodean coach how will he get to know the best of British talent at the warp speed the club wants to progress ?
Are the New Zealand 2 - Lowe and Chalmers, involved in any advisory capacity for the head coach decision ?
Is the new head coach to develop youngsters as well as attract big names ?
How many big names, from Down Under, did 'Bluey' attract to Leeds ? He signed Greg Eastwood but he returned after just one season.
There are any number of questions and it's a very important decision.
Just because some clubs have done well with certain coaches doesn't mean it will be repeated at Salford where the infrastructure is different.
How many top players want to perform in front of 2k ?

| I thought I read there was someone due to arrive from NZ with a reputation for bringing young players through so I think that the new regime see the need for this, basically the better quality of youngster you get into the squad the more of the salary cap can be used to bring the type of player who is really going to be the catalyst for improvement. I've always been a fan of bringing in Kiwis as they seem to adapt to the UK quicker and in the long run more successfully.

| Brian Smith and John Cartwright. Smith would be a great appointment with John (The Legend ) Cartwright as his assistant and keep Longy as offensive coach. We would have Kudos, Motivation and Innovation to take us forward next season.

| If todays MEN's article is anything to go by it now seems a two horse race between the two little jockeys Brian Noble and Brian Smith. No mention of Tim Sheens so I can only presume he's a non starter in the Salford City Reds Stakes. And unfortunately for Bobbie Goulding it seems he failed to make the weigh in.
So who's your money on to be cracking the whip Smith or Noble?

| It has to be Smith IMO
1. Smith at Newcastle Quote -developing the side. He had nothing to work with, the side was absolute garbage when he walked through the door. He was given the leeway to make big changes. Firstly, nobody wanted to come to Newcastle then, its different now, but back then we were about as popular as Canberra for a destination. We had no jnrs of any great ability ready to burst onto the scene. So he played a moneyball style approach, he picked guys who were fringe players that could go either way and tried to develop them into first graders. '"
2. Smith At Roosters Quote “One of Brian’s greatest strengths is developing young talent and he wholeheartedly embraced our strategic plan in relation to developing talented young players and he leaves the club in an extremely strong position in this area,” Roosters Politis said.

| Whoever we get, I pray the club doesn't repeat their biggest cock-up in recent times, and offer him a 5 year deal

| This weeks rugby league press has Ed Farish quoted as saying there are 4 or 5 on the shortlist with Brian Smith being one of them.
Apart from Noble and Smith, wonder who the other 2 or 3 may be.

Alan Hunte is also on the shortlist , which leaves us guessing who the other 2 are if it's 5

No announcement is expected until director Andrew Chalmers and director of rugby Graham Lowe arrive back from New Zealand in mid-April
