| Malc should always be welcome at our Club. Great player and loyal. Met him at the book signing and the book made very interesting reading. Good Luck Malc.

| did he actually say he wants to come back to the reds in a coaching role or is it what it "sounds like" to you?? of course malc should be welcomed back to the ground he is red through and through. im not saying he should or shouldnt be involved in the coaching set up but he does deserve recognition from the club and the fans for all his years service.

| Not sure wear I stand on the alker situation on the field a leader gave 100% and not 1% less fearless always committed to the cause respect of his fellow professionals loves the club
Off the field wild child, rule bender and basically played situations to suit himself
Being the guvnor at salford for so long would his reappearence stifle growth or create it in the playing staffs development as they lack a leader its clear to see
Dunno clean slate sure the new regime would not stand for anything less than proffessionalsm 100% of the time

| Quote Michigan red="Michigan red"Just listened to RL extra on the BBC and Mal Alker is on saying firstly that he's going to be coming to the game next Friday against Warrington to meet & greet fans and then to repair the bridges he burned when he was on the coaching staff.
It sounds to me from what is being said that he'd like to try and get back into coaching over here and especially with the Reds, sure we need help on the defensive side of things just not sure if Alker coming back would be the best idea.
Personally think him just turning up at the game next week could backfire on him, I'm sure him contacting the club and seeing if they mind him doing so would be a much better option for him.'"
He is that desperate to coach at Salford he has applied for the Swinton post. As someone else has said he seems to be exploring any route.

| We're moving forward, not backwards, as so many people seem keen to point out. I'm sure if he came back to watch he'd be welcome to, but in any official capacity? No, ta.

| I admire his honesty in the book but in all seriousness, when I finished it my opinion of him as both a player and man drastically reduced. Every second story about a fight and how he's just an honest guy and won't back down to anyone blah blah blah. On the field he always worked his nuts off for this club, for that I will always have some respect for the bloke. His delusion towards his behaviour off it though cannot be forgiven. He was our captain and leader FFS. Marwan, stay well clear of him please.

Having read his book also, I drew the same opinion of him.
I think you have to admire every player of Rugby League who takes to the field of play and I don't believe any of them ever give less than 100% if they don't then their teammates and the opposition certainly will. However the minute they sign for a club they become a role models and as such their behaviour should be such they don't bring shame onto that club.
Sadly in his case he did.

| If we're just talking about him coming to the game to be celebrated as an ex player. Then I would welcome him with open arms for his selfless acts of heroism we have witnessed over the years out on the pitch. There his commitment and effort was second to non. And i still believe he should've had numerous GB caps at hooker.
However that for me is where it should stop.
All this crap I'm reading about he should be taken back alongside Bobby Goulding!
without doubt the most ludicrous thing I've heard all year

Yes we have to look forward and have belief that circumstances will improve and some positive momentum will start to kick in.
I think the club has an anomalous aura surrounding it at the moment. An ambitious new owner, new management, new home (some are finding hard to warm to) and a feeble squad due to recent circumstances that has impacted on our attendances. And yet despite the teams current plight the club will now hopefully have the financial means to eclipse those glory days of the late 60’s and early 70’s. I think the events and emotions of the past year have fashioned a surreal experience being a Reds fan.
Onwards and upwards.
