Quote: SteveH "Looking at the Salford Star must be one of the biggest wastes of badwidth ever. The only positive articles on there are for Salford City FC, the rst seems to be old guard socialist rants at the council and anything to do with the council.
If this is the voice of the people of Salford, I'm glad I moved out years ago.
I'd take "socialist rant" as a badge of honour, rather than an insult, but each to their own...

I don't want to attempt to pacify the anti-Wilkinson brigade but having read about soccer club Coventry City yesterday;learned about City having an agreement about payment(s) for the stadium based on attendances and then reading about the Betfair bloke and his financial problems rlHererl
things may have been worse.
rlWonder how he gets on in the flat racing season ?rl

Seems pretty easy to me to sit there slagging off decisions of how public finds were spent, and how organisations are run. Still, that's what passes for journalism these days. Appreciate these are tongue in cheek awards, but not very constructive. We all saw last year the positive affects sport can have on society-whatever their mistakes I assume Salford Council were hoping that by supporting their local club they would get some of this kind of benefit too. And these boys have slated them for it. I just think it's such a shame that some (and seemingly plenty of cynical media types, hiding under the guise of revealing things in the public interest) seek to belittle these efforts. The power of the media in influencing people's views should not be underestimated, and of this kind of poison is what the good people of Salford are exposed to all the time, then the Reds must feel they're trying to push water uphill.
I hope things get sorted for you guys soon-things look rosy this morning, as I for one think a strong Salford club would be great for the game. Don't think the Star would be happy though.
