| how have you got into this mess
one word
superleague
the main reason all clubs even ours get into this mess, either chasing it or trying to stay in it
The money the rfl have wasted in london, wales etc would have helped heart land clubs build a sound base to build from both a financially and team point of view

| Quote Derek Smalls="Derek Smalls"Rightly or wrongly,
The last two years or so, have been like a really bad dream, one from which we aren't seemingly going to wake up from. Scriptwriters from a certain other Salford based soap opera could surely not have come up with what we have been served up:
The sale of decent young talent eg Myler, Turner, Ratchford / McRae going on leave following stress / Alker getting sacked and the whole sorry saga involved with the dismissal of the hitherto iconic clubman / Vievers in / Vievers out / Parish in / Parish out / Vievers in / the shambolic lead up to the final game at the Willows and the potential to sell the new vision to a 10,000 crowd, spurned / a hopeless inept loss to Leigh at the first game at the new stadium / playing the first competitive game in an inch of snow / Sale move in before we've had a chance to warm the bed / Matty Smith sold with a third of the season remaining / players undermining the club on Twitter / a player taking the club to tribunal in an attempt to get out of his contract / a sponsor employed to help the club with their finances getting involved with a winding up petition against the club / players employed to help the club with their on-field performances getting involved with a winding up petition against the club / an extensively dragged-out 'financial rescue' which amounted to a failed attempt to get a loan to see us lurch on for another year...
I've no doubt missed out plenty of other issues which I've either forgotten or blanked from my memory to save further pain.
Less than one year on from the dawning of our new dream, we are faced with the ultimate nightmare: no club to support at all and the loss of our tired but beloved old ground. With no framed turf to help remember her by...'"
Tanks for reminding me how we got into this mess!

| Quote Iain="Iain"Totally agree about it being nice if the fans could pull together, but as for a fund for donations, we don't know what (if anything) is needed, and what it's for at this stage. Obviously there's Forever Reds, which is always accepting donations and is backed up by FSA regulation and strict rules on how monies can only support Rugby League in the area.'"
I'd be a bit wary of donating direct to the club if I were you. Look what happened to the £500k that Bradford raised in this way, swallowed up paying off directors loans and then still went into Admin.
I am a Wakey fan and have been through this also but I will tell you what our Supporters Trust advised Bradford fans to do (and were ignored). If you are going to ask fans to donate to the cause get the money donated into some sort of Trust (is Forever Reds your Supporters Trust?) and have it ready for coming out of Admin rather than using it to try and stop yourselves going into Admin.
How much better off would you be if you raised a couple of hundred thousand pounds and could put that towards a newco coming out of admin rather than it diappearing into a hole like the £1/2 Million at Bradford did.

| I have to agree with the above comment. I never truely understood the premise of donating to a club directly, with no control over where the money goes.
If my own club where in a similar situation I would want some idea of how much and what it will pay for and once that is gone, where will the club be financially. Still making losses, profit, break even????

I'm afraid not. There are many myths about the London club, including the one about the millions the RFL wasted on it. London have received no special finance from the RFL, full stop. I assume you don't object to their receiving their share of TV and sponsor money?

| Money in specie then.
every time the RFL gave or gives a club assistance with marketing, or specalist administration etc the salary of those individuals who are assisting the club or costs of companies providing services, is paid for by the RFL as apposed to the club paying for it directly.
Although no cash passes directly to the club (although i am not convinced on this either) its does come out of the RFL's pocket and into a suppliers.
