Hate to say I told you so but... this outcome was always going to be the case in the current climate.
Hope Salford come out the other side of this, be it with a knight in shining armour or in the championship as a newco. It is now not only a matter of money but time as well, the clock is ticking to the start of the season and some difficult decisions need making pdq. I expect some of your more valuble players will be offered around to the highest bidder to give a little extra time to find a buyer, otherwise they will go for next to nothing anyway if the club enters adminisration. I have a feeling that the RFL will handle this more like the Wakefield way rather than the Bradford one so the board needs to buy as much time as possible and hope for the best.
