ignoring the usual "club is going nowhere, everything is , i hate the world" diatribe above, Eccles Star has a valid point. Like it or not, there are now two full time professional rugby clubs based in the Advertiser's catchment area, and we have no reason why we should expect them to favour us.
Now more than ever before we need to get some really good PR out - someone from the club should be feeding them story after story; what they choose to run with is entirely up to them.
I thought Trinity Mirror now own Salford Advertiser? Have to plead ignorance because since I stopped getting it for free I've probably read two issues.
Just to let you know the Salford Advertiser along with all the former MEN weeklies from Rossendale to Macclesfield are now and have been for some time produced from the same office as the Manchester Evening News at Chadderton, Oldham. I can only agree that the Salford Advertiser is a pale shade of what it once was both in the Sport and News Departments.
Expect more as they are possibly rebranding to Salford Sharks. They have dropped "Sale" from all their new merchandise something they never did in Stockport. If they do rebrand the council and local papers will have more interest in them. It will be bigger national exposure for the city of Salford than a league team could ever give them. Like it or not you'll soon be playing second fiddle to them.
