I think Howarth played well for the first half of the season but went off the boil slightly. On Saturday he played poorly first 40 and woeful second 40. He isn't a scrum half, not his fault he is playing there but you would expect the basics like catching the ball from a 5 yard pass (on 3 occassions) not to be dropped. Not just picking him out for blame, the whole team were awful second half, Howarth was just the pick of them closely followed by Patten (who probably blames the club for his performance).
I think I spotted the reason for this when I was in the corporate dining after the Widnes debacle. He's not to bad I'd just be wary of how injury prone he is.
