Quote: programmethrower "now we could all blame Mr Child till the cows come home but he doesn't drop balls and miss tackles. I'm quite glad we got beat tonight because it will shut the do gooders up and open their eyes to see where Salford really are.I feel credit should go to Widnes and their supporters '"
Dealing with the Widnes followers first - since their days in The Championship they have gone onto forums suggesting Betts should go - have repeatedly stated he is out of his depth in Super League.I believe they are
able to spend the full salary cap after an announcement Steve O'Connor made after they got the Super League License, when he asked the supporters to back a 'Stronghold' where money went into the club throughout the year;nor just a 'lump' when season tickets were purchased. He has put together a large squad of Super League experienced players.
It was after our players did do some decent defensive work that Mr Childs gifted them a number of tries.I have been reminded, via another forum, that he penalised us for 'crossing' -DJ and Marc Sneyd - and his other decisions were also outrageous.2 home defeats when he has refereed that I can recall,of the top of my head.
Obviously,if we signed the players Widnes have signed they would have all been 'rejects' and not a squad of players, who, when gelling together can put a performance in.They did defeat Wigan a few months ago.
With the territory and ball possession Widnes had our players 'ran out of juice'.It was just a very bad day at the office. We still managed to squander 5 scoring opportunities. With Widnes having both Hull clubs visit them in the fixture list, the top 8 is some distance from being finalised.
It was nice to see some supporters remain until the end.
It should also be remembered that 2 of our forwards were absent.Ben Gledhill and Shannan Macpherson and certain players sustained injuries during the game.
It was awful - but not the end of the world. It certainly wasn't when Wigan lost to Widnes.
You never know,if we put a run together we - Salford City Reds - could be the form side going into the play-offs.
Where is Gareth Owen ?
