German Red: you're absolutely spot on. I've not seen a Salford player looking so gutted at losing for a loooong time. It was the slowest trudge off a field in many a year.

Michigan Red: as you can see from my post above, I agree it was an exceptional tackle. However, no-one can beat Gavin Clinch for ball stealing. I remember an away game where he chased a kick at Dewsbury, and as the full back picked it up and turned back he simply stole it off him and ran the 5 yards to the try line leaving the full back empty-handed and embarassed. Great days...

Patten got the man of the match yesterday for salford and I was in the exec suite when he was presented with it. Look absolutely gutted!! and said every player was the same, and knew that game was there to be won!!

STORY OF OUR SEASON!

In attack he is very good on the loop with Holdsworth, defensively he has been a disapointment for me and his ball returning has also been in question for me before he came everyone was quite excited about his running in space but he just seems to pass it to Broughton / Williams rather than running it up himself.

Certainly wont make my top 3 fullbacks in a Salford shirt but he wont be in the bottom 3 eather

Optimist has got it spot on there.

Probably the best attacking fullback I've seen, and at times he's returned the ball well, mainly when he's had to play off instinct alone. Patten does seem to dither when he's got time to run the ball back. The main disappointment with him though, has been his one on one tackles.

He has been a great player, in the NRL, but time appears to be catching up with his body. A fact he's stated in public, which is probably why we've only seen snippets of his NRL performances. I don't think Patten is the only one either, Nero, Wild, Anderson and Feka have all played to their previous levels at times this season, but tough careers are catching up with them, and they can't produce week in week out.

I still think he'll be missed next season, but think our recent drop off in form is partly due to the older players not being able to maintains their levels of performance. Once again thank you Shaun McRae.
