| Quote Karlos13="Karlos13"Without going into great detail I think what most Salford fans are worried about is a more professional outfit coming in and attracting bigger crowds/publicity etc and basically reducing Salford and rugby league to a second class operation.'"
I understand people's cOncerns to an extent if sale were Infact buying the ground and not just sharing, and I might be being naive on the whole matter! That's why I ask the question, but in regards to what happened to Stockport county, it would be interesting to of seen where they would be now if anywhere if sale sharks had not moved in to edgely park and to see where they go now?

| A very sad day, but unfortunately, one we all saw coming. If this isn't an admission that we are not capable of standing successfully on our own two feet, then I don't know what is.
We can all go on about how it could be worse, we could be Bradford, etc. But I have watched this club for nearly 30 years and put up with the rubbish on the field, because I always felt that at least we were a (relatively) well run club, unwilling to overstretch ourselves a la Widnes, Hull, Oldham, Wakefield, etc, etc. Now we are having to watch the local club from the sport that has done nothing but undermine the sport we are all so passionate about, march in, reaping the spoils from our clubs hard work, and not least, the sale of our century old home.
I am absolutely gutted that our club and supporters (financial and otherwise) have put so much effort into getting the stadium built, only to see it given over within 3 months of moving in.
And another thing, if their lot continue to call that kick and clap rubbish 'Rugby' when they are in our 'Rugby League' ground...

| I reckon this has assisted the club with the pre-game music on Monday :-
It's the end of the world as we know it - REM
Enter sandman - METALLICA
Fear Of The Dark - IRON MAIDEN
Unless Sale can persuade all their supporters to travel the further distance and make inroads into a virgin territory then as the peripatetic club they have the most work to do.
There is a limit to the corporate hospitality and if SCR can maximise that then the greater sport with the better players should maintain their status quo.
If the people in charge of the club are happy with the outcome I see no reason for me to be depressed.
Most modern stadia need usage all the year round to be cost effective.

County fans tell me that the financial input by Kennedy et al was in real terms neglible: they have lost many of their funding streams and have to pay for use of the ground (e.g. changing advertising boards at his rate). They are likely to be left with a heavily mortgaged ground and poor resources.
Dave Swanson will now post.

What?desert your club like rats the moment you think there might be a bleak future for you; whether it be five, ten or twenty years away?
Utter garbage!
You stick by your club no matter what.

| The name of this thread should be changed. On Sale Sharks official website it states that you are both co tenants.
At the moment you are both a drop in the ocean in the manchester landscape, it's up to Salford to promote themselves, there's no point complaining about other clubs moving forward just because you want to stand still.
You're a good club that is improving on the pitch particularly in attacking plays and had increased attendance off the pitch.
Anyway the very fact that it's being referred to as Salford city stadium should be a boost in its own right for the reds.

This really could be the kick up the backside Salford need. There is a conurbation around the Barton stadium that is bigger and more untapped than any other in the world of rugby league, bar London. Salford could be a very well supported and sound financial club if the right recruitment drive to gain fans. Moving to the new stadium should be the start of the attraction to the club.
I work at a school in Wythenshawe and, recently, I was chatting to one of the classes of kids about rugby league (them knowing I was a fan) and they asked me what club I support (Warrington) and asked what club was closest to us in Wythenshawe and when I said "Salford City Reds" almost all of them had never heard of the club. Just 7 miles down the road, within the same connurbation, and the club hasn't reached out to us.
Now Salford have a start on where they can attract fans and they shouldn't miss this opportunity!

The following Friday night, Sale V Munster, Heineken Cup, Sky Cameras there, 12000 attendence.
What will all the business heads think when this happens? Which club will be the one in the driving seat as to who calls the shots with the SALFORD Community Stadium?
I am hoping this is going to be a massive wake up call for Salford now. We need to advertise advertise advertise as much as we can now to pick the attendences up.'"
