Quote lancetodd="lancetodd"We win three games on the run,and we are one of the best teams in the league.Leeds shop at Harrods,we shop on the
market, lets get back down to earth,it we Finnish out side the bottom four,we have done OK,with the squad we have got
I was at meeting, along with others, that the club were more concerned, about away fans, and then flooding in.They did not seem to be concerned about attracting new home support,it was always about away fans.If we ever get a team like
Leeds,we will get 8,000 plus in my opinion. The powers that be at Salford, have always said If people come and pay
we will spend the salary cap,and you know as well as me,people will only come If there's something worth watching,
and there is nothing,we have gone on over marketing,or lack of It,but on the pitch, there is nothing to market'"
We won three games on the run and
some people say that we are the best team in the league, others keep their feet on the ground.
If Leeds shop at Harrods its because
they can afford to,
we cannot but I do think that we have some decent players for the money paid out.
I am sure that I was at the same meeting where the question was asked, where do you expect to get the extra fans from? and one area was to try and increase the number of away fans that attend matches and another was to try and attract more fans from the surrounding areas never concentrating on one or the other.
The 8000 attendance would never happen on a regular basis overnight it will take time and the start that what we have had was not the best taking into account the friendlies etc but if we had a team as strong as Leeds,Wigan etc with the success that they have had the 8000 average would be achievable.
I believe that if this season we average 6000 then our salary cap will be higher than this years for next season, with further increases each other season if the crowds continue to increase each year.
I think that in RL we have a very good product and in Salford City Reds we have a very good product that needs to be improved upon and marketed much better not only when we get back on a roll but all the time.
