I do feel phil is a good coach and what he did last season while we were in a serious tailspin after mcraes departure was nothing short of a miricle from wooden spoon to whisper it finishing in the 8, if he performs simular miracles this season and gets us up bradfords backside and fighting for 8th then i'll personally start a petition to get a street named after him. how he didnt win club man of the year last season is beyond me, does he need to feed and nurse children back to health as well as turn our club around....
what concerns me is...
We need strong leadership from our football department (mr simms) and to give him a 1 year contract is in my eyes nothing short of a disgrace, yes they will point to the fact we dont want to be stuck with him like mcrae but it just stinks to high heaven that in 12 months time if Vievers hasnt pulled another rabbit of his magic hat and got us competing and higher up the table he will be binned and another "victim"/ coach will be employed.
what was needed from our football department (mr simms) was a two year contact one year for SS to train Vievers up in the areas as a coach he is unfamilar with (dealing with the media ect) the second year SS then reverts to "player and rugby welfare officer " organising offield duties for players and coaching staff BUT is below Phil when it comes to decitions on how the rugby club / playing side is run that means If phil cocks it up he gets binned and replaced with a more experienced coach
