Quote: Dantes Inferno "You must be winding me up.Williams in my opinion is an average super league winger.Theres better wingers about.Yeah he puts in some good performances but that doesnt make him a GREAT.Im happy with our wingmen but come on Offiah was a special finisher , the best the game as ever seen.
You cant even begin to mention offiah and williams in the same breath.Offiahs defence did improve as his career evolved but widnes/wigan had great backs around him in them days, hes scored 448 tries in his career not bad for a lazy uncoordinated GREAT.
Take them rose tinted specs off.'"
I'm going to leave the 'then and now' alone, because I shouldn't have started it and it's not really fair on the past players.
As for Williams, you're entitled to your opinions, but he doesn't panic in defence, which allows him to make the right decisions. OTRD is right about certain players getting into the England squad because of who they play for. There's no way Cudjoe offers as much in attack as Broughton and he has many of the same flaws to his game. Makinson looks a good prospect for Stains & Briscoe is quick/strong, but Ryan Hall is nothing more than solid. Whilst Charnley looks more like a centre.
I just hope someone at the club has the sense to get hunte coaching our 3/4 line and FB. Our first choice backs could be formidable next season, if they stay fit and get some quality coaching. After I've said all this, Williams will probably regress next season, in a similar manner to what Gibson did this season. Hopefully, he'll prove me wrong.
