answer to your first question is clearly a no. parrish will need to be some kind of miracle worker to turn some of these lads form around next season. the players we signed dont look to be world beaters, only other signing ive heard is matty ashurst, no one will touch feka so were stuck with his wage plus other non performers on high pay packets, so dont see much improvement playing side. if were going to do well next season mp will have to play a blinder!
I feel really sorry for Jon wilkinson today, and the other board members. Certain players let everybody down. What the hell were the likes of Patten & Gibson playing at? Gibbo's defence has gone from bad to worse through the course of this season. The amount of soft tries conceded is also astounding. As for feka. The guy, just doesn't bring anything positive to Salford. At least Lee jewitt got us some fast play-the-balls & Neal tried hard.
The other thing I've noticed is the level of improvement when Godwin replaces Smith.
However, all the talk about playing entertaining this season wasn't what we needed. What we needed was more aggressive defence. Judging by Parish's comments on the players recruited for next seaon, the issue is being adreesed.
Godwin definately brings a certain urgency and runs from dummy half that smith hasn't got in his locker. Not having a go at Smith I think he should have been at 7 & DJ at 6. Ratch wouldn't be playing for me and it's not because I feel betrayed because I think he's made right move for him, although I seriously can't see him getting a game, I just feel that once we couldn't make the play offs we shouldve been looking to future, ie Sneyd/Owen. I know same could be said about Ray but if he didn't play we really would be up sh*t creek!
