Quote: RED1 "Why Rugby league is professional yet as a club, we appear to be so amateur?
Cas are one year ahead (from being in super league), Hudds used to be whipping boys, now near top of table.....where is our progress?
WE have had god knows how many coaches...even more players.....yet are still stuck in the same old routine. WHY???? what at the club causes this
This is meant to be most important uyear....well ever......big spend on the team.....boost crowd and momentum as we head to stadium.......and its falling to pieces.. at this rate ...the whole stadium thing could backfire and we could find ourselves ina REAL hole com next year when we move. this negativity could REDUCE how many turn up next year.
GET IT SORTED NOW
Chairman - sort the culture and get a coach
Coach - teach the team to bleeding play!
Marketing guys - Im sorry your attempts are pathetic. I know you have some schemes online to boost numbers....noone knows of these....get promoting them...your task is to increase numbers....have you? no. you have failed......time for you to be replaced as well. I dont care about poor product etc....Bulls aint in great form yet they can sell 10,000 ST's on the back of a poor year. Have they attemped to combat next weeknds predictably poor attendance....NO - no bring a mate deal, everyone in for a tenner (like wakey did). so yet again we'll be the laughing stock on and OFF the field
I hate typing this as I have held back on critisicm for SO long but today is the final straw.
Start from scatch NOW Salford.....get a new coach....new marketing team.....save this season....SAVE THE CLUB!!!
Im serious we need to make this week work'"
Agree with bulk of what your saying, especially the first half but ranting at the Marketing team is totally off the mark!! Im first to hold us accountable for what we do, especially compared to what other clubs do but how the hell can you market what is being served up????? What would you do differently - and dont come up with the usual guff about 'giving out free tickets to the schools!!!' and 'put posters up quick!!!'
Bradford's scheme is working as they have had SL success and its still within the memories of most - they have to be commended but god only knows what its doing to there cashflow. Wakeys tenner stuff didnt work either - dont be kidded into thinking it did.
The club has tried tons of stuff over the years iirc - i got sick of trying to 'take a mate' and am still get the mick taken by my mates years after!! Sustained paying growth is the only way forward for any viable sports club - panic ticketing doesnt work - look at Hudds they have grown things slowly but surely for years on the back of success - this is the only way to go!!
As for marketing the Bulls match Nike, Coca Cola etc etc would struggle with this one. Bad run of form, off field wranglings (who knows whats going on there!!?? - would love be a fly on wall of Sir Johns office), some footy match in London, saturday afternoon, Sky etc etc all means the crowd will be poor. Offering a tenner to come in just damages what ever cash would come in. Best just to ride it out unfortunately me thinks - as much as it sickens me to think what the Willows will look like
Whether you like it or not you cant market a poor product! Just pray every day that in 2 - 3 years we will look back and laugh when all this has panned out.
