Great to see just how much people want to watch rugby league, it's just the stupid ticket pricing that is putting them off. Salford take note.

I don't disagree with the sentiment that RL seems to be going down the route of pricing people out, but in the case of this game it's not just the pricing and peopel wanting to watch rugby league, it's the profile of what has happened in Wakefield.

News and awareness wise there is a big difference between a club, in the space of 10 days being on the brink of going under, losing players, being saved, getting a win, and effectively holding a new-era launch party, and a club just saying "tickets are a tenner for this game". If this was just a promo for a regular Wakefield v Salford game without what had happened at Wakefield, then we would not be talking about a large crowd.

It's been said in the past that Salford could throw the doors open and people wouldn't come - we need to start by get it so people [uwant[/u to watch Salford. Playing reasonably consistenly well is a marketing ploy we've not tried for a few years.

Points accepted - a new stadium beats all of the above and more besides, a £10 ticket all season next season will bring in twice the number that a £20 ticket will, and then consider the food and wet sales.

Until Sunday we have no idea how many people want to watch rugby at £10 - the fact that they've extended the offer to include matchday purchases and walk-up punters would suggest it's not been all that successful??

I think it has judging by the updates on the Trinity site, the shop has never been as busy. We have guestimated 8K anything over that will be superb

Hope you're right - my heart sank today when I heard the offer had been extended because I assumed it meant it hadn't been popular (although I have always been a bit of a pessimist?!)

They didnt want to announce it fully as they wanted to get some advance sales out of the way to avoid an even bigger rush on the day.
