From what i remember he opened up his own gym so thats why he moved on, Hay worried me think his methods were built on power and strenghth rather than fitness i went to leeds to watch widnes in a grandfinal and after 60 mins they were out on their feet.
To compete you need to have good stamina to stay in the contest and capitalise on errors tiredness brings.
this is probably the 1st and only topic you see the words EDMONSON,FITTER, EXCELLENT, CONDITION together he was a gamble that went horribly wrong...

| I agree with the optimist, you need stamina and strength/power. When Stacey Jones was playing for the Auckland Warriors in 2009, he controlled the game magnificently or the first 15-20 minutes. After that it was all down hill, and speaking to people who seemed to be in the know, it was suggested he was doing all weights and no stamina training.
However, when you look at how few tackles are broken and the lack of meters made by the forwards, I would suggest Hay's strength and power training methods are not the greatest either. Any team that defends for long periods is going to struggle for Stamina and this might be a more important area for improvement. We've, also, got some big forwards that don't seem to punch anywhere near their body weight.
I still say that we've had enough quality players in our ranks over the last two seasons, who if coached and managed better, would have seen our team produce better quality performances. Studying the body language of both McRae and Hay, they seem to lack any ability to inspire and motivate a team. At least one has gone!!!

| Haigh was extremely poor and lacked the right attitude, good riddance I say. Eddie Mcguiness did a great job,and is sadly missed (rip) I personnally would of liked to see willie poaching added to the.backroom staff as he comes from a winning culture. That said Malc will be a great addition and I can't wait for the season to kick off!

| When Karl Harrison was coach the best move he ever made was bringing in Eddie McGuiness as team conditioner. What the team lacked in quality and natural skill/ability they made up for in stamina, strength, great defence and team spirit. (Salford had a team to be proud of that gave everything and got the fans/shed right behind them) Our defence at times on our own line was impenetrable. Then when Harrison had a fall out with Eddie and got shut of him it's no coincidence that the team went from finishing in 5th place to going totally backwards and getting relegated. (Rumour is it was their wives/partners that actually fell out)
Personally I think the Andy Haigh appointment was a big mistake and only came about because Shaun McRae knew him as one of his players for Saints in the 1990's. Bit of an old pal's act I think! Heard a few players have said Haigh used to make it up as he went along.
As somebody mentioned above our forwards seem to lack the physical power to make decent metres with the ball and it needs addressing by the new conditioner.
Somebody also mentioned above that we got shut of Eddie for Andy Haigh and this isn't true. There was another conditioner before Andy Haigh and I think he was called Dean Thomas if i'm not mistaken? (Who was supposed to be a lot more qualified than Eddie McGuiness)

Totally forgot about him, wasnt he a head coach somewhere before he came to us? he wasnt much kop he was more strength and power over stamina, one famous forever reds meeting he said he was looking to improve the players "shape" and you'll see it in february new bodies, feburary came and went and they didnt look any different to me.

| I think it was KOTS
Perhaps the idea was for him to get on the field and give more detailed instruction to the players being a coach didnt happen tho.
As for power and strength, if you can start quick its an advantage but for me salford are not the best starters of a game so to be powerful and strong and be mentaily still in the changing room and 6-0 down on the field its a waste of time for me.

| Let me get this straight, a couple of wives fell out and we lost, probably, the most competent member of our backroom staff. I would like to think the club wasn't that amateur. It seems appear the 2007 season went wrong for a whole manner of reasons, and instead of riding the crest of a wave the club simply imploded. With the franchise system and hopefully the new stadium, the club can't afford to let this happen again.
