Coming from a United loving family didn't really get into rugby league until I started following Wigan in my early teens, wait for it, I was about 16 when my mate took me to the willows for the first time late in 1993, when beat we beat Wakefield Trinity.

Two older guys slated Scott Naylor constantly for the entire game. By the end of 80mins Naylor had scored 2/3 tries. By the time we played Wigan in the Regal Cup semi-final, I hated the pie eaters and was true red.

Although seem to recall watching salford on tv one saturday afternoon, can't remember how old I was but my little brother been born so less than 8, but think we played leeds at the willows and we beat them. Prehaps it was destiny.

According to my Dad he started taking me as a baby. The earliest game i remember though was against Whitehaven at home in around 1988/89. We were sat in the seats of The North Stand.

Mine was the semi final at Burnden park against Wigan. should have been called off. i watched Bolton play there the night before and it was a mud bath

I have no idea the first game I attended although I guess it must've been either the 89/90 or 90/91 season on the back of freebie tickets through Hope High. I do remember thinking for about 5 years that Castleford was our local derby though until I realised the place in town was called Castlefield.

IIRC, the first team I watched would've contained the likes of Gibbo, Evans, Peter Edwards, Youngy, Blease. Not sure if Fordy was around then or he joined us a season or 2 later. There was never a dull moment with Tex & Fordy on the wings .

I had to endure the semi followed by City getting stuffed 4-0 by Liverpool in the fa cup 6th round at maine Road on the Sunday. Awful weekend.
