Martyn Sadler writes in today's League Express that the Championship is to this week discuss creating a representative side, which would play against England Knights and possibly a French equivalent. Any thoughts? I think it is a good idea which seems to work in Yawnion and would give the Championship some much deserved publicity. Only problem would be sorting out whether Cumbrian players would be eligible etc.

I think he is referring to the fact that England have recently in the past couple of years, played a Cumbrian team.
I think it would be up to whether Cumbria want to play together as a team for these games or whether they'd be happy to be disbanded and join a Championship select team. |

I don't see why playing for a Championship select side would affect whether you play for a country or county.

Some may remember that a 'National League Select' played against New Zealand 'A' at Hilton Park in 2003. Anyone know what the international programme was for the home nations that year aside from the GB vs NZ test series? As MHL says, a lot of the potential players may well be tied up with their respective national sides at the back end of the year.
