| Mentioned this the other week but with 5 aways wins out of 6 this weekend its remarkable how only 2 teams out of 14 in Super League have won more at home than away. No one has better than a 66.6% home record. Very weird.
Bradford - 1 Home win 3 Away wins
Castleford - 2 Home 5 Away
Catalans - 2 Home 2 Away
Celtic - 0 Home 1 Away
Harlequins - 3 Home 5 Away
Hudds - 2 Home 6 Away
Hull FC - 2 Home 5 Away
Hull KR - 4 Home 5 Away
Leeds - 4 Home 5 Away
Salford - 2 Home 2 Away
Saints - 4 Home 6 Away
Wakey - 4 Home 3 Away
Wire - 3 Home 2 Away
Wigan - 2 Home 4 Away

| Could be because the away team has no pressure on them (by this I mean the home team has the crowd on there backs everytime something goes wrong).

But it's no different this season than any other season, and I can't remember it ever being the case before that the majority of teams had won more away than at home. In fact I think there have been more unexpected results this season already than in any other season I can remember.

| I guess there's been few enough games for it to be a coincidence. Any statisticians want to comment? Never understood why it confers such an advantage in soccer.

Rovers are credited with 5 away wins, which I assume means the Magic weekend was counted as an away tie. If that is true for everyone, that skews it a bit.
In football I think the size and state of pitches might vary more and make more of a difference. The other factors ('homer' refs, inspirational support), would be common to both sports.
Eye-balling it, it [imight[/i be statistically significant (I doubt it but can't be bothered to do the maths), but not very. Patterns occur randomly, especially in small samples and this isn't a very consistent pattern.

| I have counted the Magic Weekend in fairness. Even that though doesn't change things too much.

| Home advantage is important.
But not as important as the attitude a team turns up with.
I know that for my team (Wires) the guys in the past have been known to turn up with what i'd call a lacking attitude and often come unstuck.

| Saints are normally renowned for their home form, but this year and last we have lost games. This year in particular we lost to teams that the majority of people would have expected us to win.
Away from home, we're unbeaten!

Traditionally, home advantage has been significant in RL, too.
I did a simple check of the 80/81 season: 16 teams in the top division, 270 games. I may be a little out, but counted 62% of games were home wins and 35% away wins (167h, 94a, 9d). I believe this approximate ratio is pretty much representative of the entire history of the sport up to the beginning of full-time RL. I have no idea of the ratio in the SL years (shouldn't be difficult for someone sufficiently interested to do a count). 13 rounds of a season is getting towards statistical significance, and it's interesting to speculate why it is happening.

| It's not the reason but I'll just throw it out there that there are 7 away wins being counted there from MM where both teams were away. That would make Leeds and Rovers home and away wins equal.

icons077e_files/4864-863FALH-msnicons.jpg How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?:icons077e_files/4864-863FALH-msnicons.jpg |

| Again in the Championship .....
Leigh have played 4 at Home and won only 1 but Away have won 4 out of 5...Maybe playing Away is becoming free from the pressures of playing at home...
