What is for sure is the only other alternative simply wasn't an alternative.
Was there an alternative? As I understood it, you would not have been given a licence next time round if you were still at BV. Anyway as I said earlier I'm delighted that you've got the good news you've all been waiting for. I sha'nt forgive you for turning us over the other week, but its a sign of how far you've come, both on and off the field. Good luck and ignore Starbug (he's just bitter).

| Quote: Him "Well done to Wakey fans for keeping the faith through difficult times!
How big is the stadium going to be?
Please say it won't be all-seater!
What's the plan for when it'll be ready?
Without wanting to cause a mutual b1tch-fest, what's the likelihood of it ending up being a ground share with Cas?'"
1. 12k, but I think that can be improved with corners, like Wire I believe.
2. It won't.
3. Sir Rodders has said that we should start the 2015 season in it, but he hopes for it to be ready even sooner.
As for Cas sharing it - it's a Community Stadium, so I imagine they'd be more than welcome.

| Quote: Starbug "I can see my ' reality check ' posts are causing a little upset and bad feeling , that isnt my intention , I like Wakey as a club and your fans , and I'll miss belle Vue when its gone , so as not to be a ' party pooper ' I'll leave it there
I understand where you’re coming from regarding a new facility, it’s a bit like Wakefield fans preaching to the Bradford fans about going into administration, been there, done that. All we can hope is that lessons can be learnt from the Leigh scenario,
But just today let us get a little giddy. It’s not like we see our team every win stuff, just constant relegation battles followed by the threat of not receiving a licence, intersected by deaths of serving players, this is as good as it gets I’m afraid.
Come on Starbug, be happy for us, with your lead maybe Smokey will follow .

| Ignore the predictably negative comments from Starbug. He's insecure and bitter about things that have gone on at Leigh, so will point out a negative in anything and everything to compensate.
Congratulations on a significant step, Wakey. Plenty of work still to go, but this wil hopefully be the start of some big news coming from the club.

To be frank, seeing what's come out of the club recently I'd say we haven't been up to now. But that seems to be more down to an ineffective former CEO rather than the ground move itself...

| Well done and fairplay if building occurs soon, and not just plans and agreement.I thought this location would be a shared Stadium with Castleford?

The date being talked about is the 2015 season - so still a long way to go.
Both clubs have been clear for a good while now that they would be pursuing their own stadium plans, which may not make sense to the outside world, but actually does when you consider that they're both completely separate and competing businesses. There may still be further twists in the tale but as it stands, this is a Community Stadium for the Wakefield District and WTW will be the anchor tenant - CTRLFC are pursuing the sale of WR to fund the build of their own privately owned stadium at Glasshoughton.

| Great news for Wakey just a day after York got planning permission.
So...
Saints moved into a new stadium this year
Salford moved into a new stadium this year
Catalans built a new stand last year
Leigh moved to a new stadium in 2009
Leeds built a new stand in 2006
Wire moved into a new stadium in 2004
Odsal underwent improvements in early 2000's
Hull KR have started building a new North stand
Halifax finished their new stand making their stadium fit for SL
Wakefield have announced plans for a new stadium
The rest already play in top stadiums...
I believe that is as a result of the attitude the RFL took towards stadiums and proclaiming their importance. Clubs have clearly felt the need to improve facilities hence the amount of activity. Can't wait to see a super league where every team plays in good facilities with good crowds. This is as a result of franchising, it has been a requirement to improve facilties, that can only be a good thing. I doubt we would have seen such a dramatic improvement without summer rugby and the super league.
I would expect a decent rise in the crowds at Wakey, massive history at that club and they are doing well for crowds in a terrible stadium at the moment. They are averaging a lot more than wire were before they moved to the HJ. The signs look good for wakey fans. It would be great to have another club averaging 10k with a good team on the pitch.

i just hope the RFL dont give in to the flat cappers and undo all this hard work by cas and wakey by relegating one and promoting the villagers from Featherstone.
