In mitigation I posted the facts in the spirit of the Mods requirements that all the name calling is stopped and that posts should be, and are, civil and polite.

The post from the Gentleman in question whom I responded to, didn't breach those new requirements so I thought it only polite to reply



The reply I gave centred on something a number of people (not just m'learned friend) can't or don't want to understand, and that is that expansion means an expanded pool of professionals thanks to the North American and French clubs bringing their own through, and an expanded Television income thanks to North American and French clubs getting TV deals to share with us in their own countries adding to the one here.

Let's say Wigan were expelled from Superleague for some reason and Red Star Belgrade replaced them and bought up the Wigan team. This in the eyes of many people on TRL and a couple here would be "Expansion" only because the distance to games and back had been expanded, forgetting that losing Wigan as an SL club and them being replaced by a fledgling overseas club may well seriously diminish Superleague.

And that reply wasn't exclusively for our friend, it was to anyone who misunderstands what expansion really is.

A really good example of expansion here was the advent of Cumbrian clubs in the period after the war........

I'd be happy to analyse the issue you two have between you. Again the definition of expansion that Mr. Perez agreed with along with Officials here was an expanded pool of professional players and an expanded pool of TV money.

On the former nearly all ENGLISH SL clubs encourage and help run junior development through their foundations and academies. Salford don't run an academy though. On the latter all the ENGLISH SL clubs attract subscribers to SKY which then funds the TV deal payback......the idea our friend proposes that [i[u"Some UK SL clubs fail to do so after how many decades?"[/u[/i isn't really true..................

What is true is Les Catalans stopped their academy and are now nearly an all Anglo-Aussie team and Toulouse want to follow that....No sign of Academy level French player development nor any sign of French TV deals. Do you Snowie think stating these facts makes me a Francophobe?

But that is not entirely true is it?

It's Something that you state quite often because it supports your narrative but in reality it doesn't stack up. The idea that clubs like Salford Widnes Wakefield who all draw less than 5k have the supporter base to add a significant subscription numbers is fanciful. There is no evidence to prove otherwise.

when are you going to stop this constant raging about failings making you look like petulant child, none of the clubs have walked away from the game Widnes have chosen to do the same as Featherstone as their have other super league on their boundies two of the mentioned clubs are in the championship but you're chasting them for not having academies
Salford have budgeted and chosen do the same, ever thought that they might just want to keep afloat rather than not paying their bills

as for Toronto they did fail massively and had an oppertunity to correct it but walk away, the last time Iooked Salford, Widnes and Featherstone are all operational and looking forward to 2021

I can't agree with on this on as at least they are linked to St Estève XIII and Toulouse are linked to Toulouse Broncos XIII

Still,the fact he seems to have made,that by promoting Leigh Centurions to Super League will lead to a huge surge in Sky take-up,when it wouldn't work while they were in The Championship, is a real eye -opener.
