If BetFred pull their sponsorship because one player out of 200+ doesn't want to wear the logo on religious grounds I'll find it pretty funny to be honest. I at least wouldn't want them sponsoring the game if that was their attitude. It would be incredibly narrow minded of them.

Good point my friend. As if Betfred would pull sponsorship because one Muslim players refuses to wear a shirt promoting the brand.
People are trying to make this a big problem when it isn't at all.

| Good on SBW I say.
Why should he want to promote a company that causes misery for thousands of people.
If only SL had the same moral backbone

Hypocrite if you ask me

Willing to buy shares which is a form of gambling

Gambling is defined as staking something on a contingency. However, when trading is considered, gambling takes on a much more complex dynamic than the definition presents. Many traders are gambling without even knowing it — trading in a way, or for a reason that is completely dichotomous with success in the markets.

We'll find out if it's a problem if/when he takes the field for Toronto. Until then we dont know just how determined he is to stick with his views.
However, unless he wants SL to find a new sponsor, there will be plenty of Betfred mentions and logos all around him.

Personally, id have put it down to spending CA$21,000,000 in competitions over 3 years....thats more money spent in 3 years by St Helens 2019/St Helens 2018/Leeds 2017 combined..... So if youre going to spend almost double the amount it takes to win 3 SL grand finals,, but do so in the lower divisions, you can hardly claim it as proof of future success..... They're re at ground zero now. No more buying titles.
Do the wolfpack management believe that they have done anything other than buy promotion so far?'"
The most successful clubs here are those with great junior development programs

I'm assuming he'll never be motm either...
And for JEANSteph to say BetFred cause misery is garbage, they do not FORCE anyone to bet.

Thats another incredibly simplistic way of looking at it. No one forces anyone to drink or smoke either. and several betting companies have been found to not do enough to deal with gambling addicts. In fact some companies encourage addicts. Not saying BetFred is one of them obviously.

Buying shares is permissible in Islam. There is stipulations which would make it un- permissible but unless you can tell me Toronto are engaging practices which are not allowed in Islam then calling SBW a hypocrite is not fair at all.
Why do you have a problem with what SBW has chosen to do?
You remind me of the people who got angry when Yaha Toure refused to accept a bottle of champagne when he was awarded MotM in soccer games when he was @ Man City.

And where did SBW say SL should find a new sponsor. He is doing something for himself. He directly doesn't want to promote gambling. He also won't do any corporate functions which promote alcohol or gambling. He has done this ever since he became a Muslim. It's nothing new.
What the competition does around him is not relevant at all.
Next thing to moan about will be SBW only eating halal meat so Toronto have had to change their meat suppliers.

Come on then, state who has been found not to do enough, and by whom, and who encourages it.
But I warn you, be VERY sure of your facts.

I don't have a problem at all on what SBW does and what he get paid and does with his money but if your going to put your self on a pedestal then get prepared to be knocked of it.
It's simple buying shares in anything is a gamble it is not guaranteed a return no different than placing a bet, I await next to hear he likes eating a full English breakfast

In fairness to SBW he hasn't said anything himself, unlike Israel Folau who New York are chasing (apparently), IF Folau is allowed to play in a team associated in any way with RL in the Northern Hemisphere then a lot of people, sponsors included, will walk away from the sport.
But, back to the topic, "The key to success" first someone needs to define success, it comes in many forms and different people perceive each of those forms differently.

Since TWP actively encourage, and make money from, the trading of alcohol (they hold a beer festival at every home game) I'd have thought they would be regarded as a banned company to hold shares in for a muslim.

Ridiculous! How many times does this need to be said, SBW did the exact same thing in Rugby Union. This is nothing new!
