How is it "[iSporting Merit[/i" when Multi-Millionaire Simon Moran's Warrington stuff clubs who can't spend what he spends on players??
I agree that it's a good idea in theory to do it as a play off but when Featherstone beat Newcastle in the final you have a massive problem. And so does Mark Campbell, he can't afford to bring in the Quality players for 2021 Kurdi can. In turn Kurdi is expected to field a League one team that would not be playing in Superleague??
I can go with "On Merit" on the field if we postpone the 12th. place a year but we cannot do that so it needs (this one do you?) the richest qualifying club in terms of business plan and finances to take that 12th. spot...

| Quote FlexWheeler="FlexWheeler"I've grown weary with the whole schtick, the idea of these teams needing to justify their existence in super league based on some abstract idea of what's good for the game. Should always be on sporting merit, on the field. Being as that can't directly be decided, it should be featherstone, as they were runners up from the last completed season.'"
If that's the case London finished 12th in 2019 and where replaced by Toronto, so they should be re promoted as they finished higher up the league structure than Fev. Plus Fev had several Leeds players and had access to mire over the seasons
It cannot be decided on fairly on merit on the field as there are too many inadequacies, so it has to be a mini franchise and thats how they are doing it.

This is a great game
Can Leigh take the promotion place given that in 2017 they were unfairly relegated from 11th. spot in a league in which most clubs did not support the play offs and MPG that unfairly removed them from the Superleague set up when Widnes should have gone down. Therefore Mr. Beaumont's Leigh should get first go.

Well fair enough, but the offer is the offer and the most suitable clubs to take the 12th. spot will indeed have to consider the approx £900K shortfall.
I don't think for a second Mr, Campbell can afford to lose that off central funding if he takes Fev up and would have to put together a bargain basement team. It now appears Mr. Flatman is a business advisor more than a wealthy business owner. Mr Beaumont may well spend a lot on players and see another £900K on wages as just the price (worth) paying, but the one man who seems to have the sort of money to compete, and bounce back if relegated is Semor Kurdi.
I can't leave Toulouse out, but I don't think they have a rich owner? Corrections welcome?

| Quote shinymcshine="shinymcshine"re. funding disparity
I'd say the justifiable reason is that existing SL clubs would have budgeted based on the full Sky TV money, and will therefore have to already face a financial challenge of a shortfall.
Meanwhile the newly promoted club will have additional money to meet SL and full time status, but won't already have the same fixed commitments to meet as existing SL clubs.
So whilst it doesn't seem 'fair' it does seem 'justifiable'.'" they could also add a relagation free year to at least give them extra time as well

Calder was Castleford (5000 fans) Wakefield (3,500 fans) and Featherstone (3,500 fans) the assumption was Calder RLFC would attract 11,000 crowds.
It was a gross assumption and mergers went pop that day as the fans had spoken. Years later it was a pleasure to be at the final game of the 2006 season when Wakefield played at home to Castleford before ironically 11,000 paying fans

Voted yes but to Newmarket which is equidistant to both clubs where they are now. It’s a 5 minute drive from Cas to Newmarket if that.

Hey that's an idea.....
But what if the chosen club comes bottom like this example..........................
__________________ P W D L P ______
LONDON BRONCOS 27 1 0 26 2
And has another year of struggle and still comes bottom?
I think it best to promote the club who are best set to spend their way to success, because this is what makes Superleague succesfull, rich owners who year after year will put the money in, and year after year is important, no point bringing in a club without money, or a club with money where on relegation the owner decides he wants to take his bat home. Didn't Mr. Beaumont take his bat home when Leigh were relegated last?
More and more it looks like Newcastle.

I'd back this, with an expansion to 14 teams in 2022 as well.

| If we promote one team from the championship it meas we are 1 team short there for next year.
Has anything been propsed for championship format next season?
Do we promote a side from league 1 to fill that gap?
