Rlfans - the most toxic rugby league forum in the world: |
|
| Quote: Donnyman "No we don't.... Not enough quality players. When we had 14 clubs in SL London under McDermott could not get decent players from the M62 to play for the Bronco's. At that time Wakefield were letting in 40 points a match with crowds tumbling. London lost all but one game letting in 46 points a match playing one game in front of only 1,000 fans - against Catalans Dragons. SL thought about dropping to 10 clubs before these disasters, but quickly went to 12. Last year SL signalled they wanted to go to 10 clubs and put that to a vote the Championship clubs blocked. They most likely will go to 10 with a reduced TV deal on the cards. Catalans lost their TV deal - so please don't even assume Catalans will be in SL 2022. They likely won't be.
You really must get real - English SL bosses will NEVER EVER allow their limited player pool to be shipped abroad thus cutting their own throats. They have said so in the RL press. No offence to you, RL papers and Mags like League Weekly and RL Express constantly promote the American dream but not one of the journos or either editor has the bottle to actually come clean on the realities of the acute lack of players to stock such a dream, and the fact that there are no real North American investors. All I ever hear is Argyle (Aussie) and Wilby (Englishman) promising the earth.'"
Quite right. Not enough quality players. Who’s fault is that? New York and Toronto who have been in existence for 7 minutes or Wakefield. Leigh And Salford who have been in existence for 100 years and still can’t produce “quaility” players. These 3 waster clubs are no different to the expansion clubs in that they rely on cast offs

Surely there are more than 3 'waster clubs' than wakefield, leigh and salford. why have you only mentioned those clubs ? Hoping for a reaction I imagine. So, in your expertise knowledge why are they so ? Try and explain yourself without trying to sound a thick troll.

| Quote: JEAN CAPDOUZE "But we can have expansion and still retain nine (9) English clubs. [iWigan, St Helens, Warrington, Leeds, Bradford, Hull FC, Hull KR, Castleford, Huddersfield[/i
Eventually add the seven (7) non-English expansion clubsCatalans (now), Toronto (now), Toulouse (2021), New York (2023), Ottawa (2023), Boston (2025), Philadelphia (2025)[/i.
Then you have a sixteen team Super League. The north American teams will have to survive on the generosity of wealthy owners until 2025, when they will have enough teams as a basis for a TV deal.
'"
Thank you for your reply. You set out a programme for progressively adding teams to Superleague from now to 2025 until we have four more clubs. But you do not set out where the extra 120 players at least will come from? There will be no North American players of SL quality available in the next six years if ever?
You also exclude current SL clubs who produce players, this doesn't make sense nor does it add up - could you explain.

What a ridiculous statement to make, your arrogance shows no bounds and shows you up to be the most dimwitted poster on this forum just to try and aggravate other posters within them areas mentioned

There is a world of difference. Salford and Wakefield run junior player development foundations staffed by coaches to promote the playing of RL at schools and local junior clubs, and very large sums of money go into this. Wakefield run an academy to further develop players to become professionals. Salford and Leigh don't run academies but to be fair, the problem is that there aren't enough young quality players in the area for there to be six academies so quality junior players from Leigh and salford would gravitate to academies at Saints, Wire, Wigan and Widnes.
There is therefore a sizeable player development system underpinned by these six clubs including Leigh and Salford, and a heck of a lot of time, effort and money goes into this from the clubs. I really do think you should look up the facts of the matter. In contrast Toronto and New York will have kids mostly playing a series of NA sports and if there are any "football" minded kids then most will be playing grid iron and soccer, and Rugby Union clubs in these cities will be mopping up any kids who want to play Rugby.
It is therefore the case Argyle, McDermott and Noble may have been around for seven minutes, but that was enough time for them to decide they were not even going to bother trying to develop junior ARL in any way so they should by rights not be in Superleague leaching players from here.

Counts 100% mate. I grew up watching Leigh lads like Ashcroft, Eckersley, Tyrer and of course John Woods. Great stars of the game. hope you go up next year - you didn't deserve to go down when you didn't come bottom the other year. Sorry for the long post

| 3 players from Leigh East signed scholarships with St. Helens earlier this year. That's the kind of clubs they go to initially, as Leigh only has a 'college' based academy for the students i.e. The Tommy Sale Youth Foundation.

Except it’s not. I’m 100% correct in what I say. New York and Toronto could promote any random teenager to their squad like Wakefield and Leigh do and then claim he is super league standard when in reality they are a million miles away. There are 4 clubs in super league who consistently produce super league standard players. Ergo, Toronto and New York are in the same bracket as Leigh and Wakefield except they have been in existence for a millionth of the time

Steph, your so determined to make out Toronto are as bona fide as Wakefield you end up making up anything. Look here. www.wakefieldtrinitycommunitytrust.co.uk/ Wakefield run a really good player development system from the grass roots to academy and now reserves from which the best players turn pro. It's no good using Leigh as an example of a club who "do nothing" they aren't a Super League side.
In contrast Brian McDermott came out and admitted Toronto Wolfpack will be doing nothing on the player development side because Rugby Union in Toronto has a full set up for developing Rugby minded kids to play Union. Brian Noble recently checked out the best players in the Canadian National RU side and concluded none of them, not one, are good enough to play pro-league.
No offence to you Steph, but across the game, especially in the RL press we have people purporting to be journalists writing the same sort of "Rugby League is taking root in North America" stuff you do. Look carefully Steph, It's just one very rich Australian playing pretend. They say love is blind.......BTW New York don't yet exist beyond a plan so it is astounding that you put a "plan" at the same level of development as a 140 year old club - can you explain yourself??.
