That Ellis was top 10 MOS is meaningless, it's a bit like SPOTY, in 2016 he was voted ahead of Westerman in the dream team which was a joke.
IMHO in attack he's not been all that for a long time and nowhere near his NRL form, the last two seasons have been pretty average to say the least. His leadership however is second to none as I said, his tackling is far in advance of his attacking prowess.
Your statement tells me that you don't read too well and can't see past the fact it's Ellis and that he has been average in attack (well behind the likes of Watts, Bowden, Minichello and Taylor with Green being just as effective) which is the only negative point I made. His endeavour is not being called into question, nor his leadership but that he/we as a club decided to call time was the correct one as we have better to replace him in from an attack POV.
That we did not fall off a cliff when he wasn't playing despite other injuries as mentioned elsewhere on this thread shows your blinkers and inability to be objective.

Ackroyd is an out and out half, and Randell, Wood, and Grix can also cover in the halves, and there's talk of Jowitt being spelled in the halves during friendlies and reserve games too to see how he does. That's 3 solid halves, 3 that can already comfortably cover the positions, and 1 who is going to be spelled there. Plenty of cover for the 2 spots

Ackroyd is one of the few genuine halfbacks in the junior game. He's quick and he's smart and he's cock sure of himself. He's quite small but he's incredibly brave, I have high hopes.

Watched this today. Pretty much most of Tom Johnstones try’s over 2015-17. Not including his number of contributions in drives, breaks and try savers. Wouldn’t swap him for another winger in the league and if he carry’s on from his pre injury he should definitely be first name on the team sheet at wakey. No what egg said was correct, we do have cover. What CC is talking about is a full on SL quality specialist half - that to me is more than cover or that's how I see it.

Agree there's a difference between guys who have played there in the past and can slot in and do a job when injuries occur and bringing in an SL standard half that's potentially competing for the 17.
