Agreements are already in place for a temporary 'home'

Why hasn't club mentioned before then? Announcement yesterday didn't say anything either which was a bit odd. Plus for SL bid how long is temporary? If NM got knocked back where to then? Seem's all Wakey's eggs were well and truly in one basket!
Not havine a pop but it's just very worrying to see a club on such thin ice! Only mention of Oakwell or any plan B has been from fans thus far etc. IIRC SL bids go in, in April as well!

can be around £10-20K per game. A one year or two year (!) deal would make it cheaper. However the 'cost to wakey' is potentially higher.
The need office space / retail space. They will lose stadium naming and advertising money. They will make very little on corporate hospitality etc. (This creates pressure on putting up entrance costs)There will be additional costs re training / playing U20 + U 18 games + costs for events through the season. Likely to be pressure on marketing costs. PLUS gates are likely to fall so revenues down. Given the winding up orders while at BV this additional financial pressure hammers any licence bid.

| Quote Fully="Fully"A lot of our fixtures were altered.
Our first two home games - usually the biggest attended games of the season purely because it's the new season - were both on Sky on Saturday evenings. Additionally, these were games against Warrington and Hull KR, usually two of the biggest followings brought to games.
Catalans was moved to a TUESDAY night, whereby the majority of season ticket holders, including myself, could not make it due to various reasons.
Bradford at home was moved to an earlier kick-off (11:30am on a Sunday!) due to the World Cup game, which meant that a lot of Cas and Bradford fans stopped at home.
Leeds at home was also on Sky, again, another game where the crowd would have been higher due to it being a derby.'"
I think you can add to that an absolutely crap start to the season where the team were inconsistent and unentertaining - this turned a fair few away, only to see some return later in the year. Add to that the recession and a general feeling of disillusionment amongst the fans at the perceived lack of progress with the stadium development - the Jungle was a pretty depressing place to be at times in 2010.
I think few would argue that the town lives and breathes RL, however what's currently required are new facilities and a new Super League License; hopefully both of which will come to fruition and help the club realise it's full potential.

| Wakefield are reaping what they sowed some years ago imo.
They over spent, broke the cap and did all they could to not finish bottom, whereas Hudds made sure they laid the foundations for building the club to long term success.
Maybe if Wakefield had kept their promise to the RFL when they got into SL they wouldnt be in this situation now.
The icing on the cake was when they rejected even the concept of ground share.

This.
Whatever you think of franchising, this is not an issue that the RFL forced onto Wakefield three years ago. The club has held onto the coat-tails of other, more progressive clubs since their entry into Super League. The only tangible change to Belle Vue since their entry to SL has been the "construction" (if that's what you can call the process of putting one Portakabin on top of another) of the Costa del Crappy apartment block.
Throw in that fact that this is a club that has previously broken the salary cap, a club that took the proverbial Michael with overseas quota loopholes, a club that has several run-ins with HMRC, a club that has one of its board members subject to an Individual Voluntary Agreement and a club that, all in all, has failed to make any sort of tangible progression since 1999 and you have a club that isn't deserving of its place in an elite competition.

| Quote StanTHEWildcat="StanTHEWildcat"The club is a joke from top to bottom and off the field, we certainly dont deserve to be in sl off the field. People can go on about how good widnes bid is but until the day i die i will always believe its what you do on the field that should count. Widnes have a poop team and couldnt even dominate the lower leagues, should they come up then goodluck to them but its by default imo.'"
where were the wakey fans complaining about franchising when they got a license off the back of one of the dogiest franchise applications
welcome to SL widnes youll make a fine replacement for wakey
bye bye wakey, good riddance

| Quote J20="J20"Exactly. Tbh Wakefield as an entirty have broken more than enough stadium promises to last them a lifetime. Surely it's a HUGE worry the lack of investment in squad when they weren't even paying for Newmarket? Sorry but 'we can't survive without SL' will not be a reason to keep you in (even if it is for expansion sides).'"
bingo
if relegation means wakey die off well bad luck
widnes, cas all went down and came back
wakey have to live with their continued history of failed promises

Why would relegation kill them off? Sure, their ground is worse than most championship clubs, but there's a reasonable expectation they'd still get 1500-2000 people every week, as they did in the second tier in the 1990s. That is plenty enough to run a part-time team on a £300K salary cap.
