Balmain ceased to exist in 1996
Auckland and NQ were not RL heartlands prior to getting NRL teams
The "bomb" was an Australian invention after Gibson saw hail mary american football passes
Cambelltown isn't in Sydney

never said they weren't "cities". I argued the definition of a city in Australia is somewhat different and based on an administrative council rather than a seperate geographical location, which is how most of Europe and North America would describe a city. I would contest Dally's claim that they are not "in" Sydney. You seriously trying to tell me if you asked ANYONE in Australia where Parramatta was they wouldn't say "in" Sydney?

In terms of the 2008 article, I'm just stating what those with more knowledge than you or I have said. Whilst pokie funding continues to fall the good thing is that generally crowds in Sydney are on the rise. Memberships may yet save clubs, we can but hope.

ps I look forward to the Dallyisms of 2011, they certianly kept everyone on here amused during 2010, even if it does paint a poor picture of my fellow Australian countrymen!

Local government areas mean all. Campbelltown, Penrith, etc are all part of the Sydney metro area. Just as Ipswich is part of the Greater Brisbane metro. IIRC the ABS/OZTAM also includes Gosford as part of Sydney metro but I'm not 100% sure and cbf'd checking.

Go look at some US cities if you want to see more massively spread out urban conglomerations.

edit: Apparently 'love' means something quite different in Ingerlund. Tennis scoring now makes much more sense though.
