| Quote: HXSparky "Given other threads about the RFL operational rules and the MPG etc., how was it that TWP could give tickets away for this one, given that the RFL should have been setting the attendance prices for the game. I'm sure there's a good and valid reason, but I'm intrigued what it is?'"
No idea, you'd have to ask the club. All season ticket holders got two free to the MPG as a thank-you gesture which we thought was a great move. How they squared it with RFL isn't my concern. Of my friends that attended, about half paid. Also, several bought season tickets for next year, so the free tickets are bringing in new, paying fans.
Quote: HXSparky "Btw, given the announced attendance and the ground capacity, there would have been around 4% of seats not occupied (ie. hard to see an empty seat). It was a very good crowd, but certainly not at 96% capacity.'"
The 9600 ground capacity is set by fire and safety regulations. It isn't the number of actual bums you could possibly squish onto the bleachers. There aren't actual seats. Pointing out the unoccupied ends of the stadium keeps a lot of people amused but isn't the whole story. It was definitely the biggest crowd yet, after a wet morning and on a holiday that's traditionally set aside for a big family dinner.
Quote: HXSparky "Also, given the enormity of the game, and so many fans in the ground, why would the PA announcer feel the need to start off any "Wolfpack" chants? Most grounds would be pandemonium (sic) with that many folk in attendance with such an important game underway.'"
Because we were losing?
Quote: HXSparky "See you next year.'"
Most definitely.

9266 was the official match day attendance. Provide some evidence this is false or give it a rest.

| It makes no odds how many were there as long as they keep turning up next season and enjoy their rugby league.

| A London fan came on here, or on TotalRL, I can't remember, who went to the game and said the crowd was fantastic, all taking an interest, but that the whole 'event' was great

Pretty normal in North America - the fans don't do spontanious chanting like you see in Europe.
I've been to sold-out games at Madison Square Garden and Metlife Stadium where most of the crowd noise was PA-led - it's just the culture.

It's not just in North America, when we went to Australia in February, the Hull and Wigan fans were often recorded by the Aussies because they couldn't believe the chanting and loved it. We also went to the WCC in Melbourne and whilst it was a fantastic attendance, the only atmosphere was in the corner where the Leeds fans were.

Its what all the Aussie players say when they play over here they can’t believe the singing and atmosphere the only have to look at what Jackson Hastings said about the atmosphere at Salford and that ground is three quarters empty every time they play

Bloody hell, if he thinks Salford is an atmosphere then get him a ticket to a Hull derby, it'll blow his mind!!

You mate have never been out of Corley let alone an NRL game. I have and SOO clearly always has a good atmosphere. At club level it varies from club to club ground to ground and game to game. Roosters fans are basically dead whist at the other end Penrith and Parramatts crowds can be very lively though the latter have had very little to get excited about of late.
There is even a little singing now at some clubs but not up to UK levels. I don’t personally know which I prefer they are just different.
