| Quote: Starbug "An interesting point on sports attendance is on show at the moment, despite it being 2 Premiership clubs on show the Stadium Of Light is looking very sparce for a Cup match to be 2 matches from Wembly, Season Ticket only football fans as well it would seem'"
Exactly. People have been making out the drop in CC attendances is the fault of SL and the RFL but in reality domestic cup competitions don't hold the same appeal anymore.....not just in RL. Man City are playing Chelsea later, nobody is really fussed who wins.....nothing like when the two met in the league a few weeks back. Most of the build-up has centred around Mourinho's mind games over Pellegrini and others and how this would effect the title race. Not that arguably the 2 strongest teams in the country are clashing.

Oooops......47,013 seats filled out of 47,800. Not sure if your point still carries much weight when discussing Challenge Cup attendances........blast those 1.17% empty seats

Do read dear boy.
I said no one would be really fussed who won. Chelsea fans and probably their manager won't be bothered they're out. Have a Liverpool fan at work, even last week he said he hoped they'd lose so they can just concentrate on the league.

RFL discovered to be talking bollox rlHERErl about the record breaking, smashing all box office records figure of 353,000 viewers tuning into the Wigan V Huddersfield opening SL fixture on Sky Sports 1 on Friday 7th Feb.
The actual viewing figure was 243,000 according to

They also told porkies about the viewing figures for the Aviva Premiership game on BT Sport 1 which registered 75,000 viewers according to BARB as opposed to the 65,200 claimed by the RFL.
BT Sport 1
w/e 9 Feb 2014

2 FA CUP (WED 1915) 127

9 GOAL! BUNDESLIGA PREVIEW (THU 2059) 24
10 FRENCH LEAGUE CUP (TUE 195icon_cool.gif 20
...(* Source
To summarise the RFL horse earlier this week.....
1. The 353,000 was actually 243,000 which was less than the 251,000 viewers who tuned into the Widnes V Wakey SL opener in 2012.
2. The alleged 38% increase in viewing figures on last season's SL opener was actually 29% (243K v 188K).
3. The alleged extra 288,000 viewers tuning into Super League on 7th Feb which was alleged to be 543% higher than the alleged viewers for the Union game on the much smaller BT Sport subscription base was actually an extra 168,000 which is 324% higher (243K v 75K).
4. I expect the RFL viewing comparison to BDO Darts on Eurosport (A desperate RFL or what? Well, they are hardly going to compare the figures with Premier League Darts for obvious reasons ) are garbage as well since according to BARB, Eurosport haven't reported any viewing figures for that week.
5. RFL Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics by plenty

It's not at all. Top Premier League clubs like Man City have had to bring in various ticketing and pricing schemes in order to boost cup attendances. I believe Man Utd now forces season ticket holders to buy tickets for their home cup games in all competitions.

No need.
The BARB figures that have just been released confirm what I suspected all along.
When a RFL press release smells like , that's because it is .

FFS.....
The claim was that the CC and RFL were getting grief for LOW ATTENDANCES and then the poster immediately used City v Chelsea as an example.....unfortunately for them, regardless of if the entire crowd were there on freebies, bussed in from the West Bank or turned up by mistake thinking they were going to an Elton John concert, the Stadium for City v Chelsea was 98.35% full......given the Hard-on on here regarding the RLWC Final that saw Old Trafford 98.33% full, I'd suggest that the CC compares terribly........
Arsenal at 99.11%....there's another poor turn out that proves it's not just the Challenge Cup
Yes, Sunderland 33%, Cardiff 63%, Sheffield United 76% and Everton 79% had empty seats......but this is the round of 8 games......let's compare the last 16 in the 2013 Challenge Cup shall we?
Hull FC 30%, London 8%, Sheffield 8%, Huddersfield 46% (let's talk cheap tickets shall we?), Catalan 24%, HKR 43%, Wire 36% and Workington 17%
I'd think the best course of action here would be for you to step away and put down the shovel.
