| Quote: Buggo "Widdop should have been given a full game early in this WC to show his ability.
He is 24 years old, not a nineteen year old kid and plays a key role in one of the best three Club side in the World and has barely been given any opportunity for England in the last three years.
8 games, the first game as a starter and then 7 off the Bench, not been given much chance IMO.
Would Sinfield play standoff for the Storm? not in a million years.
The Halves combination combined with other poor selections and poor Coaching will see England end their campaign this weekend.
The game needs England in the final and preferably winning it.'"
Would Sinfield get in the Storm side? Don't know you'd have to ask the coach.
Widdop maybe should have been given more game time but considering he's only just got back from a very serious dislocated hip how do you know he's properly match fit?
The game may need England to win but unfortunately sport doesn't work like that, and you don't know our campaign will end this Saturday and conversely you haven't got the foggiest wether Widdop would have made any difference to England's WC campaign.
You sound as if you actually want England to lose do you can moan.

Would he? How do you know, he could have gone completely in his shell and made numerous errors and bad calls (which he has done for Scotland this WC). He had a great 5 mins against NZ I'll grant you.

He would have had to do it in a way he hasn’t been able to before, at 30 years of age.

| Quote: Buggo "Are the rest of the Team Sheep and Sinfield the Sheep dog?
Surely at this level the professional teams have several leaders to be on field Generals.
I think Australia have around half a dozen Club Captains in the team, if Thurston went off or Smith or Gallen would the team have no direction?
Sounds poor to me.'"
If Thurston had gone off in the first game im pretty confident England would have won. Gallen isnt a half back he cant direct the play like Thurston can, and Smith is a hooker, he cant be organising the 2nd and 3rd phase play when he is stood at dummy half. Whoever we replaced Sinfield with could start directing the play, but their decision making isn’t as good as Sinfields nor is their execution of those decisions.
Neither Chase nor Burrow are close to being that type of player, Widdop just doesn’t have the experience to do it nor has he ever shown he can do that job and Brough has yet to be even the 2nd best halfback in a big game, the CC final he was comfortably outshone by Sinfield and Cooke, in the play-offs his record is disastrous, even this year he wasn’t even the best halfback on his team in any of the games he played, never mind the best half back on the field

Sinfield has never really had a serious offer from an NRL Club that I am aware of so I think the answer to the Storm question is no.
Widdop has not been given any opportunity in the last three years not just this series, he must be wondering why he is selected and not enjoying a break with his family.
I think Widdop would offer more to the team than Sinfields and he should have been bled into the team before this WC Campaign or at least given game time in the WC, if he is not fit he should not have been selected and I doubt the Storms Doctor would have allowed him to be included, the Australian Team Doctor knocked back Wally Lewis for an Ashes Tour back in the day even though he said he was good to go.
I don't want England to lose but I feel England do all the wrong things with Coaches and players to give themselves no chance of winning.

Don't know if you have been watching the World Cup but when Aus have brought on Farah they have moved Cameron Smith to five eighth and he hasn't gone to bad has he?

As irrelevant as who the current Golden Boot holder is.
Which is the higher accolade?

| I don't understand why the talk is all about the half backs in this tournament.
Have England not been scoring points or something?
Off topic I know, but the big obsession over Sinfield needs to stop and a new warranted obsession over sloppy forwards needs to start. But of course that is way too logical for the wonderful class of Rugby League people.

Would Widdop have had a serious offer if he had been plying his trade in SL? Who knows.
England do all the wrong things? Why are we in the semi final then, why did we come the closest we've been since 2006 to beating Australia, an Australian team that earlier in the year walloped NZ.
luckily England aren't the disaster you make out.

remind me again of the trophies Brough has lifted in his decade + career? Remind of the big games, the finals, the play-offs where Danny Brough has walked off the pitch having led his team around the field and led them to victory?

Cameron smith is one of the best players in the world, I'm not quite sure what point your making.

Bird could have moved to the Halves and been replaced with a Forward.
Farrah has played much of his career in the Halves
Cronk could go to Scrum Half and Inglis at Standoff with Lewis coming in on a Wing.
Many Australians are interchangeable.
Inglis has been Winger, , Stand Off and Fullback and Hayne is similar, at a pinch they could be Locks
Widdop has never been given a chance at Test level, his experience with the Storm should count for something.
What has Sinfield done in loads of Test besides getting MOM by home Judges against NZ a couple of years ago.

I don’t know if you have noticed but if Farah is playing Hooker and Smith is moved to stand off, he isn’t at hooker.
I didn’t say Smith couldn’t direct the play, I said he couldn’t do it from hooker. Which he can’t. you cant direct 2nd and 3rd phase play from acting half.
