| Quote: Cronus "This is a funny funny thread.
Honestly, what did people expect in those conditions? That was the first rainy CC Final in 18 years - not just wet, the rain was atrocious at times. And yes, those Rhino balls are f*cking terrible in the wet (not even that good in the dry).
It was always going to be an error-strewn and physical contest, as wet games normally are.
Wigan simply played the conditions better and were outstanding in defence, and Smith's kicking game was as good as I've seen at Wigan for a long time. Hull, for their part, showed superb defence for the most, defending repeat sets several times, and effectively marked Tomkins out the game. Unfortunately they turned over far too much ball and were never going to win with such poor completion.
On another note, I thought Bentham and the officials had very good games.'"
The first decent post I've seen on this thread!

Did Wigan actually do any defending?
Honestly?
Hull were dropping it on plays 2 and 3.

| Apologies if this has been said but I am glad Hull lost. It would have been embarrassing seeming them be given the cup only to drop it!

Don't get so defensive. No one cares if you are bothered, no one is trying to bother you. Simply stating their opinion on the offering.
The game was turd, hull were shocking. wigan were poor.
I say it again, Double standards from wigan fans, they scorn at leeds grand final wins and bemoan the playoffs blah blah, yet they're gonna come on here and squawk about beating leigh, london, widnes hull kr and a 10th rate hull team?
And any nay sayers are simply jealous because it's wigan.
Number 19, quaff quaff, send us over another pie.

Really? because last year I seem to recall being at Wembley in the middle of a thunderstorm and both teams entertaining and being expansive. Funny that, I must have imagined the rain so hard you could barely see across the other side of the stadium, i must have had a bad pint?

Pretty sure there wasn't a similar thread two years ago the last time Wigan won it.
The thread exists because the game was awful. I can't imagine any Wigan fans caring how they won though - I wouldn't give a flying proverbial if Salford managed to win a Challenge Cup Final 1-0 in the most boring game ever if it meant us winning the cup! However, for the neutral it was for the most part painful to watch.

You are wasting your time.
Wigan fans are too busy polishing that turd of a final.
Can you imagine their enthusiasm for polishing turds if they ever won SL from 5th?

rlBlame the BBC.rl
There was a quick cloudburst last year but didn't last long - only a brief glimpse of it on the rlBBC highlightsrl. It also rained in patches in 2011, but neither were on the same scale as today by some distance. Wouldn't call either 'wet' finals.

| This is a weird thread - Wigan won something in a poor and dour rain soaked game which was still far better than a standard soccer/RU final = end of the world doomsday apocalypse scenario for RL. Poor game in poop conditions, grow a pair everyone and move on.
God knows what will happen if Wigan now go on to win the GF - the day of reckoning no doubt, denziens of Dante's infernio roaming the earth etc
On a (not much) much more serious note, how much does Bentham's TV "backpack" weigh? It looked huge on tv. Surely it must slow him down or affect flexibility? Given the only benefit appears to be close ups of pained defensive captains arguing about a penalty is it work the weight/ratio referee performance reduction?

| It peed it down, the ground was sodden, it would have made the handling exactly the same, wet shirt, wet hands, wet ground and wet ball would have been identical regardless if it rained constantly or heavy for 25 minutes, once you're wet, you're wet.
