Strangely in 2010/2011 the same winner of the Albert Goldthorpe medal won the man of steel award.
In all except 2008 the medal winner has featured in the super league dream team.

because in team sports, a player can only achieve things with his team, its not a way of gauging how good a player is because of what the team he plays for achieves.
i don't think anyone can deny that garry schofield wasn't a good player,but by judging what he achieved as a team player then that would say he wasn't very good because his team didn't win things .

Because it favours a certain type of player and it excludes players for a fairly silly reason.
