Great bloke, model pro, a real ambassador for rugby league that deserves recognition, just not the best player in the world as he is nowhere near that.

Quote: Barbed Wire "I'd bet my mortgage on Parra beating Widnes. Actually, I'd bet Parra would beat Widnes and Salford together!

My point being, there is no hiding the fact that the NRL has more quality and is a tougher competition in the weekly rounds, and to produce such levels of consistant brilliance is staggering. I have nothing against Sinfield, born winner, but best in the world... I have to disagree.'"

Typical Wire fan mentioning Widnes. sleepy.gif

Farrell was given it for long service, as they knew he was off to frikin union.

Danny Buderus should have won in 2004, remember that 4 Nations Final in 2004? Lol, 40-0 at half-time was it? Hahahahaha! And Buderus was awsome in that match.

Quote: Big Jim Slade "All this bitterness. I'm perplexed by the sheer number of people who seemingly can't comprehend what it is that Sinfield does and why he's so highly rated by other players and coaches who really understand the game. For years now Sinfield has been far and away the best leader in English rugby - both as a captain and in terms of leading the team around, he's the best kicker in English rugby - both in general play and conversions, his reading of the game is bettered by very few, and he's one of the few players in this country who can really control a game. Plenty claim he's average, but by every single definition of the word he is not. He's exceptional as are his achievements.

Why is there such a struggle to understand that leading a team round the park for 80 minutes of every game - as Sinfield does - is actually far more important than being a sublime broken field runner like Barba or Tomkins. Why is having a bit of everything as well as exceptional leadership and kicking not seen as being as good as being fast and elusive? This isn't about being the most entertaining player, it's about being the best player and to argue that Sinfield is unworthy of that accolade but Barba is? That's farcical. Would I pay the entrance fee just to watch Sinfield as I would for Slater, Barba or Tomkins? Probably not, but he'd be the first name down on my team sheet every single time because game after game and year after year he has been the difference. His highlights reel might not be as fancy, but few trophy cabinets can compare and he does it all with grace, grit and good sportsmanship.

If he was at Wigan or Warrington they'd be champions, he's also the reason they are not.

None of this is to say that others wouldn't be deserving of the award, but to suggest that Sinfield is undeserving? To me that shows bitterness and a complete ignorance of what he does.'"

I agree and he is a great leader even though i do not think the best player in the world. His kicking is one of the best in the World in play, and conversions are great too.Well done Sinfield and forget the biterness.I feel it is about his achievements over the years. icon_thumb.gif

Had to laugh at the rugby league world editor try to justify their choice by saying sinfield had a better kick % than smith olol. Total shocker. Sinfield wouldn't even get in an Aussie amateur team. Nearly as embarrassing as pan face winning it. Uk magazine votes uk player as golden boot shock

Carry on talking, it won't stop him winning the award and just makes you sound like an idiot.

I just voted that Kevin Sinfield is not the best Rugby League player in the world.
I feel my vote is as valid as the nutter at home after a few drinks who voted that he is.

eusa_clap.gif . It's the likes of Sinfield who's 80 minutes of manoeuvring give the likes of Tomkins & Barba the opportunity to showcase their talent.

Great accolade for a hugely underrated player. Well done Kevin Sinfield.

Think it should have gone to Cam Smith.
But still, congratulations to Sinfield. Really great player and a model pro.

Quote: king warrior "Listen i can name 10 players from over here who would be before this clown

How is it good for our game?
Will it make the game more competitive? NO
Will fans think 'oh that Sinfield the best player in the world is playing lets go watch him? NO

You get around 5 good decent close games over here a season you get the same over there in bad games'"

icon_lol.gif

Should be called keyboard Worrior!!

Why is he a clown? Because he has been given an award by OTHERS who though he deserved it?

I am really chuffed for him winning the award. I would have been chuffed if Sam had picked up the award as well. It sums up the problems with not getting behind the England team when fans cannot put petty club rivalry aside to say well done.

You also mention the boring disciplined games in the playoffs that Leeds won with, and then praise the NRL which is full of teams playing disciplined "boring" rugby.

I am sure kev will be sad that his award hasn't been given the seal of approval from a keyboard worrior covered in pie juice and crumbs

Great news! a well deserved award to a player that would walk into the starting line up of any side in the world (as captain) & would improve them all. The only thing he did not do in 2012 was lead his country to victory against the kangaroos or kiwis, but as they could not be bothered to play it can hardly be held against him. Let the Aussies winge all they want! I assume that some Aussies must have voted for him?

i suppose it all depends on what the award was judged on,i dont think he is the most skillfull player in the world, but as captain of leeds he has made them into winners now for a few years, coming from 5th twice to win the grand final, captaining a rl team is as much in the head as it is using the hands/feet.

they dont usually hand out these awards to anybody , so he must have deserved it
