Lewis even waffled on about how licensing would bring financial stability and then, in the next breath announced that a club which had gone into administration whilst holding a license were to be given another one. The RFL denied Widnes entry three years ago on that very basis. Dignity? How about a bit of integrity? The RFL should re-assess it's criteria requirements and bloody well stick to them!!!'"
You do realise that the 'no administration' criteria was ditched months ago, don't you? So no clubs were assessed against that criteria in this round of applications.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

And why was that ?
And if it had not been , which current Championship club would most definatly be in SL in 2012 ?

1030.gif [quote="littlerich":1czuya0c]Widnes will be glad to get away from Leigh. They've been regularly pumped, roasted and left in the alley-way by the lobbygobblers. Even the VT apologists are starting to make the RFL look pathetic.
Perhaps if the RFL could choose some rules & criteria and try sticking to them for more than 12 months then they may gain a shred of credibility.

| So it would seem that the RFL will now turn a blind eye to any club going into administration as long as you come out of it prior to the licence process. Great way to run the game.

I agree with your sentiments, but there's a massive difference between the regime that was in charge when we went into administration and the wealthy backer that we have now.

Apparently it was a unanimous decision to give Wakey the spot over Halifax
Quote: "“The independent board of directors, as advised by the executives and the agents that have been employed, have had the benefit of reviewing the submissions received, and based on the submissions received, it was a clear unanimous decision that the 14 strongest are the ones that have been granted a licence.”

Maybe, but they have only been running the club for a few months. How can the RFL truely assess how they are going to be performing in 12-18 months? That was there reasoning for not giving Widnes a licence in the last round.

What makes you think Fax's work made them able to bring more to SL in the next three years than Wakey?

I've no idea. Personally I think it's a bad move, much like the removal of the 50% of turnover limit from cap spending. What price the encouragement of financial stability now?

I'm not an apologist for the RFL. Neither am I a tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorist. I give them credit where it's due and criticism where they deserve it. My post you quoted was neither - it was merely the statement of a fact for someone who seemed to be unaware of it.

| Neither Wakefield nor Halifax should be in Super League. Ideally we would have one more strong club, or the RFL should have looked at going back to a 12 team competition.

| Halifax's opportunity to secure a licence was when they were up against Widnes and Barrow. At the time the decision was announced that Widnes were in - it was somewhat of a suprise that Halifax were to be reassessed with the current SL clubs - at no time before that announcment do I recall the RFL ever saying that if two of the elgible championship clubs met minimum criteria there would be a second bite of the cherry.
IMO Halifax were kept in as an insurance policy - the RFL probably knew Crusaders were struggling and were not sure what the new Wakey regime had to offer at that point.
The Halifax chairman appeared to accept that they were not getting in if Crusaders were (a club IMO with a worse application than Wakey), but kicks off when Crusaders are out and were in.
The comments he made today about Wakey, I would expect to come from a Fax fan on here not the main man at a professional sports club.

| Quote: Tricky2309 "Funny that because until todays announcement you were one of those papping on about how good Crusaders were.'" No I wasn't, I was simply challenging morons who were making unfounded claims about the club. Crusaders are a joke and their withdrawal is for the best. That doesn't mean Wakefield or Halifax are any better. When interviewed on Sky, the Halifax chairman came across as an absolute dinosaur who seemed to think that his club had some sort of right to a Super League place simply because they had been in the competiton before. Wakefield have continually failed to deliver on their promises, to all intents and purposes they are a Championship club and they must be one of the luckiest sporting entities in the world to have so narrowly avoided dropping out of Super League on so many occasions. Neither club is good enough for Super League.
