as for sid domic, he may have played one game for dewsbury, but he was still released by hull fc, didn't play again for them

The Hull KR fans are correct - Dobson is still a HKR player. People are misquoting the operational rules.
Each club is allowed to register a provisional 25-man squad, as stated on B1:9 here:
But don't those clauses get over-ridden by the quota rules? Surely B1:10 says if a player is injured he can be replaced, which implies that Sean Long at Hull can currently be replaced by Jonathan Thurston. Except he can't as that would breach Hull's quota. The second part of that clause says clubs can apply to replace a member of the squad with a payer of a higher standard. Again, Hull could replace Jordan Turner with Greg Inglis. Except they can't as it would breach the quota rules.
As the board has to agree with the changes, the board would potentially be sanctioning a breach of the quota

I'm not doubting that I'm just providing evidence that stated the Hull FC poster was wrong with regards to Sid Domic. |

Not sure. I'd have thought not really because any club with more overseas players is likely to have them deregistered from the 25 man squad?

I agree to a point but then de-registration needs board approval before reversal so it seems a bit pointless. No doubt the RFL will clarify everything in the morning  |

When a player leaves a club or is de-registered they are moved to the 'free agents' list. Whether or not they are intending to re-join their club, join another one, or never play RL again, they are bound by the RFL's operation rules for 12 months from this point.
[iA Player shall be bound by the Operational Rules upon submission to the RFL of a correctly
completed Official Registration Form and other documents as set out below or as required
from time to time. Twelve months after a player is declared a Free Agent under the
Operational Rules he shall no longer be bound by the Operational Rules provided that he
has not completed another Official Registration Form. The Player agrees to be bound by the
Operational Rules until that date.[/i
now there are three ways a player can be removed from a pro clubs register
[i(c) in the case of Professional Players with a current contract registered with a Club
But under all circumstances he no longer has a valid playing contract with said club. Therefore, due to him not being a contracted player, a conditional contract player, or a contract expired player, he is a free agent.
Nobody is arguing that HKA cant get rid of one aussie and replace him with another. Simply that for the time being Dobson is a free agent (due to not being on the HKA register, therefore he has to be a 'free agent') and that according to rule

He shouldnt be able to be re-registered this season, without dispensation.
If that dispensation is forthcoming, it should be explained why.

Why are people assuming that IF Dobson is suddenly available for anybody to sign him, that he would accept another teams offer anyway?
At the end of the day, when Masons correct paperwork etc all turn up in a few days, Dobson will be made reactivated in the squad, this is a complete mountain out of a molehill just because Willie Mason is involved

surely this whole saga could have been avoided if the club had concentrated more on signing and developing more home based talent rather than flooding their squad with overseas players. and yes i know my club has just signed 2 aussies, so we are not blameless in this area either along with other clubs.
i just wish the rules on signing overseas players were clearer sometimes

TBF I think, as another poster has already mentioned, this is a fairly unique situation that HKR find themselves in. Dobson will be back playing for us when he's fit again I am completely sure of that.
The only interesting scenario would appear [iif[/i for some reason Dobson is back fit before Masons passport clearance goes through.
