| Quote: General Zod. "In isolation of last night's game, then my points were not proved correct, however they were made in the context of the full 27 rounds of SL which will be played in various conditions and I still stand by them.
It was a clinical performance last night but Saints' rotation was hit by injuries to Gardner, Soliola (spelling) and Gardner and they were leaderless and totally void of ideas, in the main kicking game to apply any kind of pressure - they were embarressing.
Credit to FC though, it was a good performance, but it doesn't change my prediction that they'll struggle to finish in the play-offs.'"
did gardner get 2 injuries?
leaderless and void of ideas? they could have done with a expeirenced half back.

| I thought most Saints fans would count losing Gardner as a blessing?

after Saturday dont be so sure, things have to change sometime,

Don't count your chickens eh lads.

we didnt have a playmaker the last 2 seasons and our pack was weak unlike this season, lets see how the season goes eh before all the assumptions come in.

Have to say I agree. The main issues for me over hull's squad in the last couple of years has been lack of a playmaker to lead you round the park and question marks over the coach.
You appear to have resolved at least one of those, and - whilst crusaders would've probably turned saints over on that performance - I reckon you've got every right to be optimistic that you'll have a strong year.
Right, now I've said that - I'm off for a lie down

Funny how when either a team who isnt meant to win, gets little credit, and it's the team that lost that played so badly, and not the team that won playing well and making the other team look bad.
Hull didnt let saints play, the 17 that they had was very strong, but Hull with strong defence and good attacking play came up with the win.

| Because sometimes teams just dont turn up, things dont go for them and many other factors including the other team being brilliant.
Leeds Utd knocked Utd out of the cup and that wasnt because Leeds were so brilliant they could do what no other teams been able to do for years, it was because Utd didn't turn up

A bit like some not giving teams like Rovers credit for finishing so high in the league, I had seen plenty of comments like 'this is the worst standard in SL so far' etc. Not from yourself may I add.

It's also funny how when you give a club some credit, you still get moaned at.
Realistically every result has something to do with the way [iboth[/i sides perform. Hull deserve alot of credit for the win, clearly saints didn't turn up.

You just said even the team at the bottom of SL would've turned Saints over that night. That isn't giving the club credit, is it? That's saying it's the other club's fault that we won.
Saints weren't exactly shocking, were they. They dominated us in the first 20, made plenty of breaks and had plenty of chances. They may not have been at their best, but they put in a lot of effort. They were just beaten by the better side. Even the Sky team, who are usually creaming all over them, gave Hull the credit and recognised Saints just weren't good enough despite the effort.

Saints were poor, but I also said you'd resolved one of your major issues of the last few years and you've every right to be optimistic about success. I also said earlier in the thread that you had a good enough squad on paper to reach the GF.
Bloody 'ell, if that isn't credit from a Rovers fan, I don't know what is.
Oh, and I never mentioned Harlequins
