Anyone remember PSG getting over 17,000 for their first SL game against Sheffield?

I agree it means nothing. if they are not competitive you can half the crowd at least for the second game.

Of course it means something. It means they have done well in getting a tremendous crowd together for their first game.

Had they sold 400 tickets you'd be the first to stick the boot in - why not just congratulate them on marketing their opener effectively?

Obviously this season is still going to be hard but i am well impressed that we are near a sell out for the first game of the season.

We need to be competitive on the field or the crowd numbers will dwindle but with the coaching staff and the new players, i'm hoping we'll be a lot better than last season. TBH we couldn't get much worse

But what I'm saying is that short term spikes in crowds, whilst encouraging, aren't a sign of success there. If they can hold a decent average above 4k great. If they can improve and not finish bottom again great. Look at Catalans, how long did it take them to be a play off side? 2 seasons?

yes they are a sign of success.

If you market a game well there is a short term spike in crowds. If you continue to market it well there that short term spike becomes a long term trend.

Well they are starting in the right places. They are running a tag tournament for primary school children on Friday afternoon. Get the kids interested and the parents will follow. Make them feel valued and welome and it will provide a base.

Half is being a bit optimistic

The Crusaders will go the way of PSG by 2012 at the very latest
