| Quote: number 6 "looking at the fixtures drawn, the rfl must be ting themselves wondering how many fans will turn up, being a hull fc fan, our game against quins hardly inspires me to travel up to edingburgh, especially when we have catalan away 2 weeks later, can only afford 1 of those trips, so catalan it is.
now, if it was in dublin........
Strange as I can't remember a bad game between us.

| Quote: Starbug "If the Magic weekend cannot draw the required support , then drop it , what exactly is the purpose of it ?'"
It's sole purpose is to identify whingeing, stuck-in-the-past Jonahs who would be happiest if a 30 mile journey was the maximum to be made all season.
And this it does very well.

So, Leeds and Wakey get to play for no points? Unbalanced fixture list gets even more unbalanced.

I think the fact leeds would be playing to become world club champions against a fantastic melbourne team would more than make up for not playing for 2 super league points on that particular weekend.
the fixture list wouldnt become MORE unbalanced. leeds and wakefield would start the season a week early as leeds do anyway next season. only difference is the world club challenge would be in may and not february.
Also i used wakefield playing barrow purely as an example as they are due to play leeds at the weekend. In reality it could be the bottom placed super league team against the national league one champions. Thus giving the national league champions the real incentive of beating the team they could be replacing when the next licenses are announced.

'" So one of the two teams gets home advantage or do we have to find another neutral venue to play the game?
And what makes you think Melbourne will happily come over here mid season anyway?

Dunno what you mean with the first question.
Of course any nrl team would take a lot of convincing to come over here mid season. But if there was a healthy sum of money on offer then who knows. Melbourne in particular are in a lot of debt and could do with any injection of cash.

The MM games are all played at a neutral venue (no team has home advantage) with your plan either one of the teams is going to have home advantage or the RFL are going to have to pay for another neutral venue to be used for the game.
And where exactly is this large sum of money coming from to bribe Melbourne? do you really think they would be allowed to come over hear mid season and miss probably 2 or 3 weeks of the league?

I get the first question now. The fixture list could be worked out so that it wasnt leeds v wakefield starting the season a week early.

Thinkin about it, i can see that it wouldnt actually be possible to sort that out without requiring a neutral venue!
