Quote: christopher "You don't agree they kicked well in the GF? did you watch a different game to me.

Your last point is pure conjecture, Sinfield doesn't play for Salford he plays for Leeds, a team he has captained to 4 GF wins and 3 of them in a row, he has played well all season and was MOM in the biggest game of the year so far, is that not what you would call on form?

If you are calling on form players that have played well for England before then I'm afraid we wouldn't be able t get a starting 13.

your right though maybe we shuld fill the national team with out of form players from the lower placed sides, that would show em!'"

I am sorry your bias makes it difficult to take you seriously. If you honestly cant see Sinfields failings on the international stage then there is no point continuing this debate. If you dont realise that kicking to some of the donkeys that play in Super League doesnt neccessarily equate to a good kicking game there is again no point in continuing this. International standard is far, far different to being Super League standard, especially when you are playing in a championship winning team. By your reckoning Ade Gardner is a international winger icon_rolleyes.gif

I would say it's your bias against Sinfield that shines through.

Of course I can see Sinfield hasn't played too well for England but if were picking on that basis we would have a team.

You say kicking to donkeys in SL, well how do you suggest we pick players? we can only go on their form in the domestic competition, you are being ridiculous, you say he nly looks good because he plays in a championship winning team, ever thought why they are a championship winning team? maybe it has something to do with the players?

Obviously you don't think Sinfield should be in the team, who so you suggest comes in and takes over his role?

Look at the performance Blair put in tonight and tell me Sinfield deserves to be on the same field as him.

We're so far behind it'll take weeks to find all the body parts.

Well if we'd had a hooker who can kick, like Cam Smith and Robbie Farah both can for Aus, and halfbacks who can kick consistently and he wasn't out injured - Lockers, or heck even give Westerman a go or Burgess a go. Scott Moore is actually the closest thing we have to a hooker like that (don't laugh i know he's not on the same planet) in that he actually has a bit of a kicking game - shame he got clattered last night as prior to that he was going ok (first 10 mins ish)

I like Sinfield in super league I really do, I just don't know why he can't put in the a performance even in the same league when he's playing internationally.

As we are were we are, then with Sinfield in the squad he's got to play at 13 imo

agreed, our players will get snapped in half (almost literally) by the ferocity of the kiwis and the aussies will tear us apart on the fringes.

So who are the alternatives? we don't have a player like Blair available, we have to go with our form players in our own competition, how else do you suggest we pick the national squad.

Just saying 'well we can't match what the Aussies and Kiwis have' seems a stupid way to go into a tournament, on paper the Kiwis are no match for the Aussies but they do OK.

A big difference is the Kiwis you can see are desperately up for any match against Australia, and have a good coach.

I really don't know why it is, most of the time a lot of our players look like they really cant be bothered when they put an England jersey on - some of these are the same players who can quite easily get fired up and kiss the badge of their club shirt.

Something is very wrong attitude wise.

Nah.

It's just the way the kiwis play the game, we simply aren't as physical in our play but also genetically.

Our gene pool sucks for rugby league.

We need the pack to hit hard and be aggressive.

Graham
Roby
Morley
Peacock
Westwood
Ellis

Burgess
Crabtree
Carvell
Eastmond

Burgess to be used as impact prop, Crabtree to be put in SR ( just use him as a battering ram running out wide.)

Sinfield hasn't got the size to play loose against either of the sides on show tonight, and we need Burgess at prop, so Ellis will have to do there for mine.

regardless of the individuals selected, england need to perform a whole lot better as a team if they are to have any chance.

More agression in attack and defence, more stucture and speed in our defence and more variation and off the ball work in attack.

As we've seen in the past, a well structured and motivated team can give a better team a beating.

The big issue is that they need to be coached well and we need to get the best out of our resources. Smith so far hasn't shown the quailities to do this.

Picking two forwards, a hooker and a utility on the bench isn't the way to get he most out of our limited resources.

IMO we go with plenty of size and agression in the forwards, play quick short balls around the ruck and mix things up with the sort of balls Graham plays to anther forward on his shoulder (like the one the kiwis scored with last night). It's the only way we will make ground - trying to play it wide will lose us ground!

The aussies are to structured in defence out wide and our attack is too laboured to beat them out wide.

Well that's ALL the Soooperdoooper league coaches condemned then icon_wink.gif but you are correct.

Some of the coaching of out "elite" players is woeful and as for tackling/defensive skills icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif

Even our "best" team have to resort to dubious wrestling techniques as a defensive measure.

Slow PTB is ALL they know and slow it down at the ruck.

European RL just cannot compete in the speed around the ruck area.
