| Okay .
I am a St Helens fan , I currently work in the town , and they are the nearest team to my hometown .
Thanks to the wonders of satelite tv , I'm able to watch the NRL . Because it is the best RL in the world I want to watch it , but I don't get as much enjoyment out of sport if I watch it as a neutral . Therefore in order to enhance my viewing pleasure , I wanted a team to follow , and I chose the Broncos .
Obviously St Helens remain my no.1 team , when the 2 met in the WCC I supported the Saints ; but I see nothing wrong in (a) wanting to watch the NRL and (b) choosing a team to support in order to enhance my viewing pleasure .
For what it's worth I never watch any game as a neutral . I always choose one side to support in any game I watch . So even when I watch other SL or NRL games , when I watch a game of football , cricket , tennis etc etc I always choose one team or player to root for .

Which player do you tend to root?
Do you root for one more another?

| So it looks like the Poms follow an NRL club because;
1. A *insert NRL Club here* jumper has a similar colour scheme to the British side they support
2. A player who once played footy for *Insert Superleague Club here* once played for *insert NRL/NSWRL Club here*
3. They have seen the Footy show on 2 occasions.
Fascinating
Lets lock this one now please

So what, are you saying the english fans shouldn't follow the NRL, what is it to you if people want to go for an Australian team, whatever the reason?

Not at all.
Its just I see poms wearing a particular NRL clubs jumper over here and I wondered how....lets say... someone from *insert your towns name here* could claim to be a supporter of *Insert any NRL clubs name here*
A true story.
I spoke with a guy on the tube a few weeks ago who was proudly sporting a Gold Coast Titans jumper.
I assumed he was an Aussie, same as I would assume a person I saw in Sydney wearing a Wigan shirt would be a Pom.
But it transpired this guy was actually from Croydon (the Surrey version).
I asked him why he supported the Titans and he actually replied
'Oh I love Sydney. They film Home and Away near the Gold Coast'
So naturally I was curious as to how many poms could even point out Parramatta, Penrith or Brisbane on a map of Australia.
I'm still convinced that the British buy an NRL club shirt to pretend they have been to Australia or because they like the design.
I suspect a lot will get one because the NRL is far superior to Superleague but of course they would never admit it!
Its an envy thing. I can see why.

When I was in england I had a massive collection of NRL shirts (I sold them all before I moved to Sydney), and heres the reason why, when I was a young kid my local shop used to rent out the Aussie games, he must have had a mate who sent him them or something. So I grew up watching the Aussie RL and back then I always wanted to wear the shirts of te teams, now this was near impossible as you couldnt get them in England, so when I got older had my own money and they were freely available I made up for my youth and started collecting them
My wife never understood neither!
