Good to see ex saint Matty Ashurst in the dream team, he's done a great job at Wakefield for quite a few seasons now. Would have had another Wakefield player in there in Fifita instead of Casty.

Makinson, Lomax and Ashurst are products of the Wigan amateur scene with Percival and Richardson being from Widnes.

Leaves two St Helens lads (Thompson and Roby).

Will be a tremendous shame when they finish the season empty handed.

If you ever need to know why our sport needs help you only need to see that this is the only thread about a celebration of the best players in each position award.
Compare this to the Dally M awards. OMG.

Just celebrate the guys in the team.

Whilst the sport does need help it has nothing to do with their being only one thread on one particular site on one particular topic only 3/4 hours after the topic at hand was announced and plenty of people busy still at work.

Or who knows, if we have a separate thread for each player and celebrate them all RL troubles will go away.

I think the OP has said St Helens Academy Lads.

Not said he didn’t, I’m just tracing those lads back to their actual roots. It’s a testament to the amateur game in those areas as well as the Saints academy.

The point being that if the current supporters don't get being things celebrating the game, how can we expect new people to be encouraged to get involved.
Every thread on every site has a bunch of people moaning about their team not being represented or being on someone who did.

Every team sport has teams of the year and they always provoke the same sort of response of so and so should/shouldn’t be in.

That doesn’t stop them attracting new supporters and sure isn’t the reason why we do. I’d actually say they get a lot more arguments/disagreements/criticism when you see the Premiership do their team of the year and arguments between Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Spurs fans
