Not sure he even manages this.

I have never read anything he has 'written' or heard anything he has said that gets beyond bar room cliches.

I thought he did ok when he was at Donny.

I'm not doubting the ability he had as a player, which he showed in glimpses during his brief time with us despite his age. Off the pitch however, and even putting aside the money he expected to play, he was/is less than admirable. Also I point you in the direction of his biography, particularly what he has to says about Doncaster in there

It is a british coaching team.

A good step in the right direction.

Hasn't Nigel Wright been coaching in Aus recently?

i'm sure Schofield will fit in well with the Barrow Chairman and the rest of their directors and fans.

Interesting choice? at least we will now see if his actions can match his words as he has no excuses if he fails. It will be an interesting season for Barrow & I wish them well & will be watching with interest.

Garry Schofield reminds me of David Icke. He'll fit in well up there until Dessie tries to pick the team and then there'll be an almighty turquoise episode and he'll be off.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Garry will find some excuse or other if it doesn't work out up there.

He had been at Penrith, prior to coming back to the UK. When he left Warrington at the end of last season, he stated his intention to return to Australia.

Apparently Nigel Wright had done quite well with young players in Australia, and I understand that he is highly regarded. His difficulties in staying at a club have been, I suspect, because there was already an established assistant coach in place at both Wakefield and Warrington. Barrow will give him the chance he has probably been looking for.

As for Schofield, well only time will tell. I would put my money on it being a short experiment, but he might surprise us.

The Schofield/Wright partnership might actually work. Chairman Des is a gambling man, and whats to bring a brand of exciting rugby to Craven Park. Schofield and Wright being very talented half backs may be given the opportunity to try it, to attract more supporters to the Barrow Club.

Just wondered if Wright would be doing most of the coaching with Schofield being a name to attract publicity?

I thought I'd read that he was a coach with potential, hopefully that is the case as we're a touch short of decent British coaches.

I read a snippet from the back of a magazine/newspaper where Schofield had been asked a few questions.
He said he'd fallen out of favour regarding getting any media work and stated "I tend to speak my mind, which people don't like."
People don't mind that, Gary, its just what tends to be "on your mind" is a pile of wingey dribble.
