| As has been said by quite a few not a patch on Cardiff but i'll still go and make the best of the weekend that I can.
Crusaders getting off to a winning start would help.

| Don't see the attraction and need for RL to be taken to Newcastle myself. There's a presence closeby in Gateshead, which has never really taken off. Rugby Union in the city isn't popular, and it's arguably the most religious football city in the UK.
I'd be very intrigued if it was taken to Dublin or Paris, however...
I suppose the big stumbling blocks on Magic weekends being held in these cities would be extortionate costs for fans.

Agreed.
Dublin Croke Park would be very interesting!
IMO with some serious, well-planned marketing the RFL and the local council in whichever city it chooses to host the weekend, it can be made into a fantastic weekend. Poor marketing will cost MM dearly IMHO. I didn't even know it was next month and I follow RL religiously.
I think this weekend is like the Titanic, fantastic idea, and according to the RFL cannot be beaten for entertainment. However when it comes to it, poor marketing will drive this idea into an iceberg.

You seriously didn't know it was next month?
There are adverts on this site, all the club's sites, the SuperLeague site, the RFL site, the RFL Mailshot, the events guide, etc.
Too many RL fans would prefer to moan about the RFL marketing rather than get behind things. This doesn't happen in many other sports. It's like the All Golds game. Everyone was moaning that the promotion was poor, yet everyone knew about the game.
FWIW, I loved Edinburgh last year and will be going again. I thought the 2nd year in Cardiff was very tired tbh, and I just hope this 2nd year doesn't feel the same this year.

| It should be in Cardiff and left there. So everyone can get some sort of routine going!

| Edinburgh will be a better place without the likes of you boring farts!
Scots are very welcoming and there is loads to do in Edinburgh. Plus it's great to get together and have a drink with fans of other clubs. I am looking forward to the weekend.

This is a great idea but the halfd marketing from the RFL and parochial nature of RL fans will mean that it will ultimately fail.'"
Sssshhhh how dare you speak like that here

Exactly. Its too much of a burden now the novelty has worn off.
Quote: Dally "If you had been quick of the mark you would have got a cheap hotel (but even now they are not double the rack rate) and cheap train tickets, don't blame the event for you not being on the ball.'"
Thats good and well if the magic weekend is your priority but for most they fork out for Catalans away initially and then maybe Harlequins away before even thinking about Murrayfield. You can't lay all your cash out at once and by the time you begin to think about Murrayfield (and in truth I've not begun thinking about it yet) the costs have spiralled.
Although I think Wigan v Huddersfield will be a cracking game, it isn't a derby in any sense and we play them just two weeks later anyway. I'll be making a day trip of it, but it'll be more of a chore this year than a pleasure.

You don't have to, the vast majority of hotels pay either on arrival or departure, only Travelodge out of the budget chains take payment in advance, trains go onsale three months in advance, it doesn't take a great deal of planning to cut costs. We all knew the dates for this at the event last year, so that is a whole year people have had to sort things.
We followed the same routine when going to Cardiff, book the hotel as soon as we could, most book 12 months in advance, no deposit needed, no cancellation fee if things change, cheap rates locked in, Innkeepers lodge did it three nights for the price of two. Gives you a good amount of time to save for it.
