| Quote: nick hkr "We do contribute and will be contributing more over the coming years.'" what do you contribute? another game? You may argue you have decent home attendances, but other clubs earn nothing from your home attendances? what do you contribute apart from another game. What does any club contriibute apart from another game if they arent bringing players through.
Quote: nick hkr "We did not choose to not contribute we just could not afford to due to the neglect of lower league clubs by the RFL. Although improving it still happens now yet SL club supporters fail to see life out side of the top flight.'" Bollocks, it didnt stop you paying people like Mike Smith when you were in the 2nd tier. You could have put 5 players through scholarship/academy with his wages. You chose not to. Dont blame the RFL for the choices Hull KR made.
Quote: nick hkr "Leeds still took until 2004 to win the SL title, this is 8 years after its inception. Back then you had 5 over seas players in the squad, why has this not reduced to 1 over 6 years??? Surely in that time the mighty Leeds Rhinos should have produced a wealth of English talent to replace these Australians and Kiwi's??? '" Do you know why? because in 2001/2002/2003 we didnt employ stack loads of overseas players. We gave game time to Danny Mcguire, Rob Burrow, Ryan Bailey, JJB, Matt Diskin, Danny Ward, Chev Walker, Mark Calderward who all became internationals, not to mention Richie Mathers, Gareth Carvell and Ewan Dowes. We didnt stop them getting experience because of overseas players, thats why we went on to win the league in 2004, and reach the cc final in 2005 and the gf in 2005 and win the comp in 2007/2008/2009. Because we built towards it. Because we sacrificed short term success for long term success and long term and as a by product contributed a huge amount of players to other clubs, (including scott murrell, Jamie I'anson, Tommy Gallagher, Gareth Morton, and Peter Fox to you) and the international side. Quote: nick hkr "Rovers have broken no rules but you see that we are doing something detremental to the sport so why are Leeds not doing more???'" they have broken the rules, they rules as they were no longer work. We now have more overseas players than the RFL wanted and the rules were put in place to secure. Because Hull KR took a short-termist, myopic and selfish stance in their desperation to bring in a spent 30 year old, messed up a crocked 32 year olds passport application, and couldnt lose any of their 10 overseas players from their mid-table squad.
regardless, Leeds are doing more, they have a massively better youth system, more youth products in the team, more youth products throughout the league, and fewer overseas players, but it is still not their job to 'do more' so that Hull KR can try and sneak an advantage over those who are 'doing more' by 'doing less'

Look, even Mild Rover has given up the "jam tomorrow" mantra. Face it, KR's squad in 5 years' time will be Kris Welham, 7 other token academy players "promoted" to make up the homegrown quota and binned off after 12 months, 5 Aussies, and 12 Tongans/Aussies with exemptions.

| Why when Leeds in 1998 had 5 overseas players playing in their grand final team against Wigan who also had 5 playing are they 13 years later still employing overseas players?? Surely 13yrs ago they should have hand picked about 50 10yr olds and brought them through to be Leeds superstars?
Leeds are doing nothing and have done nothing to reduce their overseas numbers for well over a decade, yet although Rovers have increased the numbers this year we have also increased our home grown numbers and have invested heavily into our structures. So the RFL want to bring all clubs in line with Leeds but do not want to effect anything the Rhinos do then?
You can speculate that Rovers will keep finding loopholes to get away with having more than anyone else but once players like Vella, Galea and Fisher leave we will be down to a figure more in line with everyone else.
Yes we paid Michael Smith a good salary but by that time we were rebuilding our youth structures, it was long before this that we suffered and were forgotten like all the other clubs out side of the Super League.

| again i ask why did Wigan, who have one of, if not, the best jnr set ups in the country have to rely on 8 overseas players to win the GF last year?

| I was under the impression that to really qualify as a Perth person, you had to be born in KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Vrystaat etc?

Why is it Leeds responsibility to employ an purely english side? no-one else has! Why do they have to cover for the failing clubs like Hull KR?
Besides no-one has argues we should have 0 overseas players. Some are fantastic players who add to our league, are at the peak of their careers and it is a good thing they come over, Ali Lauitiiti, Trent Barrett, Jamie Lyon, People have simply said it is is a failure for a club in the heartlands of our game, to need to be scratching around, finding loopholes to fill their squad with overseas players to cover for their lack of youth development and poor scouting in this country.
Quote: nick hkr "Leeds are doing nothing and have done nothing to reduce their overseas numbers for well over a decade, yet although Rovers have increased the numbers this year we have also increased our home grown numbers and have invested heavily into our structures. But that doesnt excuse having even more. Nearly all clubs need to bring down their overseas totals. Only one is finding loopholes because they have 9, want 10, and maybe 11. That is why they are criticised.
Quote: nick hkr "You can speculate that Rovers will keep finding loopholes to get away with having more than anyone else but once players like Vella, Galea and Fisher leave we will be down to a figure more in line with everyone else.
'" no you wont, even in a couple of years when these people leave, and even if you go against everything you have done so far, you will still have more or the same amount of overseas players when Galea Fisher and Vella leave than all clubs except 2 other heartland sides are now. Thats if you dont bring in an 11th as is rumoured. But yes, in a few years you maybe where everyone else is now.
Quote: nick hkr "Yes we paid Michael Smith a good salary but by that time we were rebuilding our youth structures, it was long before this that we suffered and were forgotten like all the other clubs out side of the Super League.'" You were forgotten by your own fans, dont blame anyone else. It was 8 thousand people who attend now who let you sink so far. Dont blame the RFL. It isnt their fault.
And maybe if you hadnt pauid Michael Smith such a good salary 5 years ago, your youth systems would have been rebuilt and you wouldnt need to rely on so many overseas players now.

apparently one way to qualify as an Aussie opening batsman is to be born in Bloemfontaine - ie.Keppler Wessels (and then return to play for SA !)
